Until now, the whole country is still celebrating the victory of the Weightlifting Legend , Hidilyn Diaz. As a Filipino, I am proud that she breaks the history record. She is one of the living proof that women can also slay and can also do the things that a man actually do.
Since I watched her story in Maalala Mo Kaya (MMK) four years ago, I really got inspire to her. Even though that she is still young back then, she is very determine to help her family especially her father that is a Tricycle Driver. Through watching her story, I also admire her because even that she never dream to become a weight lifter, she do this to support his studies. Yes, she used this sport to help her parents in terms of financial matter. She once dreamed to be a banker because for her, money can really help them to survive. But unfortunately she give up this dream and pursue her weight lifting journey. She proves to me that if there's a will, there's a way.
Until I've given a chance to meet her when I become a volunteer on 2019 SEA Games. At first , I'm really nervous to asked her for a picture. It took me three hours to have a confidence to asked her for that. When I've given a chance to assist her, I asked her if I can take a photo with her. She was shocked because she didn't know that we know her. She even said " Oh really, did you know me? And I replied " Yes, of course the weight lifting icon". Because of what I replied we both laughed and then she said okay let's take a photo together. That time my body was shaken from head to toe and she noticed it. She said to me " Don't be nervous, just imagine that I am your older sister". After that she hugs me and say thank you for appreciating her.
That time, she also win a Gold Medal in Sea Games. After three days, I met her again and she even greet me and said " Hey, younger sister, do you still remember me? " I'm so shy that time because I can't believe that she can still remember me even we only met for once. She is so humble because she never treat her fellow Filipino as her fan but rather as her own family.
After that I always watched her games. And now that she break the history record as the First Gold Medalist on Olympic Games, I'm so very proud not only because she is a Filipino but also I know that she really deserves that spot. All of her tiredness and sacrifices really paids off. She also admit on the interview that she sacrifice her eating habits and also she sacrifice to be away from her parents in order to achieve that goal. As a woman, her training is really an extraordinary because she needs to lift the heavy bars.
She also proves to everyone that if God's plan, it is really happened in the right time at the right moment. Even though that she never dreamed to become a weight lifter, God guide her to become one of the icon. There is no rough road on the person that have a strong faith and confidence. She doesn't only give an honor to our country but also she gives hope for those person who had a dream. She is really a pride of all Filipino.
Final Thought
Just like Hidilyn Diaz, I believe that each of us deserves a gold medal. It doesn't mean that you need to join also to an Olympic but we deserve a gold medal for being a strong and determine like her. I know that we can also achieve our goals not now but maybe on the near future. Success in not only a one night process, it really takes time to achieve it. Just like Hidilyn, we also need to put efforts and hardwork in order to obtain our goal. Don't also become hopeless if you're plan didn't happened . Always remember that God's plan is always bigger than you plan.
Being a Filipino, indeed its a very a proud moment for us to have such a wonderful woman like her. She brought the name of our country in the entire nation.. Nakaka.proud siya talaga.. Hindi mo maiimagine na ang isang babae ay kayang-kaya buhatin ang napakabigat na bagay na yon. And yes.. She's indeed a living proof that women can slay..☺️
