Essential seedling found in our farm (Africa walnut)
Africa Walnut is one of the super plants found in our farm
Welcome to our BCH farm, a farm where variety of crops that supports life are found. Today we’ll talk about Africa walnut which is one of the seedlings selected for our multipurpose farm. This plant is loaded with medicinal properties, very affordable; some few Satoshis could get this nuts full of medicinal properties for you, but before then, Let’s know little about this special plant.
Why we selected this crop for our farm.
We live in a world where things change very fast. Many has lost touch with their traditions and culture. But there’s need to preserve some good things that are passed to us by our predecessors and forefathers. Africa is one of the continents that are known for herbs and natural medicines. It’s part of our culture which needs to be preserved.
This is one of the reasons why this essential plant is picked among numerous seedling out there.
My father was a notable farmer, and one of the things that I learned from him is the ability to select and cultivate herbs and vegetables that are very helpful to our people. Some of these herbs stands as natural first aid treatment to local dwellers, and Africa walnut is one of them.
Local dwellers in most developing countries of Africa does not have means of making huge fiat money, but they’re very close to mother nature, and could easily pick their life support from their natural environments.
Botanically, this plant is known as plukenetia conophora, for some other people, it could be called conophor nut. In my native dialect, it’s call ‘ukpa’; meaning ‘precious’ it’s like a jewel 💎 of inestimable value that are searched as hidden treasures. It was associated with poor farmers who dwell far from the cities. This nut is essential to them considering it’s health benefits.
Africa Walnut is not mostly found in shopping Malls nor in farmers markets. Rather they’re hawked around cities and towns by business women and children. These people searches around remote areas for the nuts. Due to its nutritional value, it’s scarce in the market.
It is classified as flowering plant; that is Euphorbiaceae class of plants. They needs supporting trees or stakes to climb up, on which they produces many branches and tick green leaves at the crown of their supporting trees, stakes or wall as the case maybe. In our farm, we intends diverting them to fence; that is to occupy the fence roundabout the entire farm. This idea will help our farm to look pleasant and eco friendly.
The nuts are found inside the fruits, though the fruits themselves aren’t edible but the nuts inside them are. The endosperm inside the tick shell needs to be cracked before it can be accessed. It is not sweet as some other nuts that people likes, rather it’s known as adult nuts. It takes those that knows it health benefits to go for them.
Propagation process
The tree can be propagated by planting the nuts from the seeds, after that they’re ripped, the seeds gets rotten and left with the nuts that are covered with mid-hard coat that can be cracked with hands. The nuts can be buried in the soil and germinates after few weeks. Some people also believe that the stems can also be propagated. I’ve not experimented that inside the farm.
This year, we targeted up to 400 of this plant. We wanted for more but could not find the number that could go round our fence. So we started with the ones available.
The fruits can have up to 4 nuts inside; depending on the size of the fruit, they usually fall off the tree as a sign of maturity; at that time, the farmer can harvest them.
The benefits of Africa walnut
All parts of the plant has something beneficial for mankind and animals. Africa walnut is essential because it is ethnobotanical in nature; from its roots to stems, from its leaves to the nuts, from its rotten fruits to the edible nuts, all are very useful to mankind, to animals and plants.
The compost from the rotten fruits forms essential manure for vegetables. The barks from the stems are collected for laxative properties, the nuts themselves take care of low sperm-count and infertility in men while the leaves helps women in treating menstrual disorders and infertility in women. In the case of fibroid, the nuts are being applied by herbalist as natural medicine that remedy fibrosis in the tissue.
It also a source of raw materials for some chemicals industries that extracts iodine oils from the nuts which are very good in paint production. In fact, the sperm boosting properties in this plant has been investigated and proven to be very effective.
The boiled or roasted Africa walnut is loaded with vitamins, fiber, antioxidants, fats, zinc, copper, magnesium, protein, and manganese.
Because of abundance of health benefits of Africa walnut, we want to help boost its availability in Africa markets so that it’s scarcity ratio can drop. And we hope to see more people living a healthy life through good dietary habits and natural medicines. Bitcoin Cash has enabled us an environment suitable for this essential plant, and we’re taking the advantage in full.
There are other numerous pharmacological activities that can achieved from the extracts of this plant that are confirmed by researchers which some of them include antidepressant, antimalarial, anti-diabetic, anti cancer ♋️ anti-ulcer, anti-chelating etc.
