Does stress make you fat? The answer is: yes, it can. When we are in a state of stress, our bodies release adrenaline, which gives us enough energy for a fight or flight response. High levels of stress also cause the release of cortisol, which, at normal levels, helps our bodies maintain our metabolism. When you have too much, it messes with your appetite, telling your body to eat to replace the energy spen preparing to fight or run away.

You are now more likely to make bad choices, give into temptation and deal with your stress throught the comfort of eating, which does lead to weight gain. High-fat, sweet and salty foods give an instant sense of pleasure, which is why we keep going back to them - we've trained ourselves to!

Still, it's no excuse. I know because I lived on prednisone for my entire life. There are many reasons why people get fat but the minority does because they like to eat, have no break, do not care enough about their own health, and need something to blame for their lack of strength, lack of will. All together we eat too much, way too much. It's better to ask oneself which role food plays in our personal life. 💕
