Unfriended: Dark Web Movie Review
When I first saw the first Unfriended, it was kind of entertaining and mesmerizing at the same time. I think the viewers will eventually notice how the film was made. It is a kind of film that was made to wow the audience. The strategic way of filming it and at the same producing it like it was being shown in your own laptop was shocking. There were only one camera angle that focuses on the actors themselves which made it more believable.
WARNING: SPOILERS ALERT
Unfriended: Dark Web somehow step up to its first sequel. When it started, I was confused when he was entering the password. Like why would you enter wrong passwords multiple times if it was yours in the first place, otherwise you had amnesia or something. It was the first thing I noticed. Matthias, the main actor in the film, somehow managed to open it, with its username as its password. I find it difficult to what the plot might be since I didn’t even watch the trailer in the first place. There were laptop logs but I thought maybe it was a normal thing for any laptop. But for a laptop to hang two times in a row is not a normal thing anymore. Matthias then goes on with his thing, had a chit-chat with his friends and his girlfriend in which he presented an app to help her communicate with him. When he seek help from his friend Damon, it’s when all the bizarre things happen.
Personally, I am an Information Technology student. When Matthias opened a boot from I guess the underworld, I knew what was about to happen. There were even locations or some sort of IP addresses that was seen in the film. The film made me realize that most of us are not aware of the modern world. We live like it was still the world we know, but truthfully speaking it is not. The dark web or deep web is a completely different world from what we see in the internet. Although I’m not talking about the whole web since there were still things that are considered “legal” there, most of the things there are really illegal. I was all aware of what is happening there. I will not say that I completely got there but somehow maybe.
What I like about the movie was it tends to teach people, first and foremost, the consequences of your actions. If he didn’t steal it and just stick to his old laptop, things would never happen in the first place. Though the laptop was just a lure, stealing is still not a good thing. Matthias role in the film was also like an innocent guy in the internet. But I find it hard to believe since he already made an application. Of course, since you have a lot of time that you spent on your computer, you should have made a research of what is going on in the world. It didn’t made sense but since it’s just a film, then it will be ok.
