Shrek Movie Review
Still one of the best animated movies ever produced in history. It breaks all the barriers regarding happily ever after, princesses and their saviors, even how love story started and ended. I think this was the first film that made my childhood great. Well, of course, I didn’t understand everything but I was a fan of each and every scene in there.
Let me just point out some of the details that I think what made the audience love it and why it became the first movie to win Best Animated Feature in the Academy Awards (Oscars).
First, the story is not what we expected. I think this was the start of how ogres were loved and not hated. It talks about a green creature hated by his community but was loved by a princess. The fact that the story writers broke the essence of saving a beautiful girl locked far away by a prince with his horse takes the movie to a whole new level. When I was a kid, Disney always portray that kind of plot to their stories so when this movie came to my eyes, I was curious and excited about it. I never actually imagine someone somewhere out there will write this kind of story.
Second, Shrek is a big mood. At the end of the movie up until the last movie it produced, you will understand why he acted the way he did. I admit I was often bullied in my life. Not because of what I do but because people react to what they see outside before getting friends or strangers with you. I actually hate the fact that I have to step up before people start liking me unlike good-looking people who are treated better than the rest of us. With Shrek, he made me realize that even if you enjoy your company and you say to yourself that I don’t care what people tell me, at the end of the day, words and actions from them bullies will still make you cry.
Third, I love the songs featured in the movie. Yes, Shrek production didn’t make them originally but the impact of those songs was such a big hit. You will see kids nowadays that hear the songs from there in the car and tell adults that Shrek made them. It is cute but not really for the original ones who put effort to the song. But also, thanks to Shrek, it made them famous as they imagine it could be.
Fourth, Donkey was amazing. Eddie Murphy did a very good job in voicing out the character. I think nothing can do it better than he did. I think I will not imagine another Shrek film without him. He was one of the best animal characters ever made. And I like how this small creature was able to be the horse the prince should have but in the way of making people laugh. Also, his mature mind with a bit of humor was the most amazing thing I have ever seen.
I've Watched this before, even my dad liked the cartoon.
