Inside the Cell
27 year old, convicted murderer and thief, Simon Park was arrested when he left fingerprints in the toy store. He was in prison for three weeks now and is currently serving there as his 10-year sentence. He was alone in life now as his wife and son died in a car accident 8 years ago. Even though it was a long time ago, the memory still flashbacks to him like it happened yesterday.
Simon was in his deep sleep until he was woken up by a guard telling him that he has to get up already. Prisoners in the cells in that floor have to clean the bathrooms that day. He made his way out of the cell to get to the bathrooms with the other prisoners. He, along with 3 other men who were all his cellmates, was cleaning the bathroom for males. They had a long tiring day and their only snack was a hamburger.
As the sun went down, Simon and the 3 men went into sleep as they were all tired from cleaning that messy bathroom.
Silence drew the hallway.
Simon suddenly woke up and accidentally hit his head on the hall. There was no light in the cell as guards turn them off when it’s already 9 pm. But there is a light at the end of the hallway can be used as a source so they can still see each other inside their cells. He was then snapped back to reality when he realized that it was so quiet. No sound can be heard from anywhere. The wind blew but it’s just not right he thought. Usually the other men snore when they are in their sleep. Especially this time since they were all tired. He decided to take a look at his fellow mates. That’s when he realized that nobody was there except him.
Simon quickly got up and blinked a couple of times to see inside one more time. He was right. Nobody was in there!
He then went and held onto the bars to look at other cells. There were no sign of anybody. There were no guards walking in the hallway. “This can’t be happening.” he said to himself. The amount of pressure is now getting into him. He was feeling scared at the moment, not knowing what to do. He managed to think of where could be his cellmates. They can’t be anywhere in this prison because the sun is not yet rising. It is even impossible that if ever something is happening that had woken up his mates, they must have woken him up too.
Simon then looked around the cell to find anything. But there was nothing. Not a single thing was on the table. The cell is completely empty.
His mind started to go wild as he thought of things. He was screaming for somebody to hear him. He was crying for help but there was no answer. The amount of coldness is already freezing him. He tried to destroy the bars but he was not strong enough.
After a while, he started to hear little voices.
“Simon!.......Simon wake up!.......Simon!!!”.
He looked around but nobody was there.
“Buddy!....Simon!!!!!”.
It was then when he realized that there were voices of his mates
He looked around one more time and saw large figures of men started to build in front of him. Figures that were so familiar to him.
He then looked once again only to see that it was his body with his mates and other guards surrounding him!
His mates were waking him up. He was catching onto his breathe as he looked at himself in a deep sleep with no sign of waking up.
He was having a nightmare.
A nightmare he can’t woke up.
