A Secret Basement

It was Wednesday; Lorraine was sitting in the balcony, watching her little brother, John play with his toys. Their mommy was washing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen as well. Lorraine decided to read a book for a while. She was bored at the time as she wasn’t allowed to visit her friend because it was raining.

The book was all about fictional stories of portals that are found around the world. Although she was not interested in mysterious things, something forced her to read it. The first portal was found in an abandoned house in Canada. Someone named Mark Clement accidentally found it when he was exploring the house. The house is said to be a haunted house and Mark is into paranormal activities and he wanted to take a look for himself.

Although the book already said that it was all fictional stories, Lorraine is somehow convinced that Mark’s story was true. As she dive more into the book, she forgot about her little brother. She was snapped back to reality when a big wind blew. It was then she noticed that John was not in the balcony anymore. She quickly run into her younger brother’s room but the boy wasn’t there. She went back to the living room but there was no sign of him. Someone called her and she quickly turned around to find her brother standing in front of a door at the back of their house, pointing at her to come near. She felt relieved at the time as nothing happened to John. But she felt something strange and nervous as she take a step forward to where her brother was standing.

As both of them were standing in front of the door, they both look at each other confused. They have never entered that door before though for Lorraine, she always notices it. She thought before that maybe it’s just a basement full of junk and some other old stuff and her mother always said to never go in there. Lorraine took the opportunity to open the door. It creeped that made both of them scared.

As the door opened, it was dark inside. They opened the light next to them to find a stair downstairs. Lorraine held into John as they made their way down. They were on their fifth step when the door slammed. Both run into the door, screaming in the top of their lungs so their mother can hear them. But there seemed to be no answer from outside. Then they heard a slight noise from the back. It was coming from the basement. Confused to what it is, even though they really want to go out now, they went down.

There was no light.

Lorraine opened her phone’s flashlight and flashed it in their front. They were shocked to see that everything from dark became red. There were people but they were all covered in blood. Everyone was screaming and crying for help. It was like hell. Big creatures and monsters were attacking the people. Lorraine and John can’t move. They can’t even scream. Both of their feet were stuck and the only thing they can do is to look at everything. Both started to panic as their feet were held on by some big red hands that are forcing them to come down. They can’t do anything.

Lorraine held onto her little brother not knowing what to do. She wanted to scream but she can’t. Shouts and cries filled the air. Lorraine closed her eyes hoping to be saved by something.

She was then woken up by her mother’s voice. She was still in the balcony with the book in her hand. Her mother asked her on why she’s sweating. She said nothing as she thought about what happened.
