King David wrote Psalm 19 around 1,000 B.C. What he wrote 3,000 plus years ago holds true today. In verses 1-2, David wrote: "The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge."
God is revealing himself through creation to the entire world, what is referred to as a general revelation. This is one way we can know there is a God. We find something similar in the book of Romans, written by the Apostle Paul around 57 A.D.
Paul is speaking about sinful humanity when he wrote: "The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse" (Romans 1:18-20, NIV).
There is no way we can look upon creation and believe it occurred naturally through the evolutionary process. Microevolution is true, but macroevolution is a lie.
Second, God also reveals himself through his word, the Bible. This is special revelation. Friends, everyone has a conscience. Our conscience provides all of us with an awareness of what is right and what is wrong. Paul speaks to this in Romans chapter two.
"(Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them" Romans 2:14-15, NIV).
Third, we have the testimony of Jesus. Again, the Apostle Paul writes about our topic in Romans chapter three.
"But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christf to all who believe" (Romans 3:21-22).
As we read and study the Bible, and pray, God will continue to reveal Himself to us. I encourage you to pick up your Bible, or use an online Bible, and read God's word today. Pray to the Father through Jesus that the Holy Spirit will give you an understanding. And be reminded to read slowly, pausing and meditating, to let the word of God dwell in your heart.
Good post. People have no excuse not to believe. The fact is they don't want to because they have to give up their hedonistic lifestyle.
