The Love of a Cage

Author Robert Fulghum once stated: "To be human is to keep rattling the bars of the cage of existence and hollering, 'What's it for?'" There are many cages, and many are enslaved by them, to their own detriment. Few individuals are willing to set themselves free of cages, but must if they are to have any semblance of freedom.

The physical cage

We would all likely agree that criminals should pay for their crimes. This is the cage of righteous justice. This cage has been exploding since the late 1980's, as crime has risen the world over. This cage is necessary but must be used in a just manner, not by mere whims.

Now imagine those who are in cages because of their skin color, religious views, political stance or because they have been convicted of crimes they did not commit. These are the cages of injustice. These must be eradicated, dissolved, forbidden.

The physical cage is meant to punish, rehabilitate or silence dissenters. Many people love their cages. But only the just do not and thus make every attempt to unshackle the chains of injustice from their necks.

The cages of justice and injustice may be observed in two primary ways: 1. recidivism by criminals who, by their inability to live in society and obey just laws, revel in the relative comfort of prison where the State takes care of their needs; and 2. the dictators and authoritarians who use the physical cage to quell dissent. Both types love the cage.

The psychological cage

Here's a real doozy. Many individuals live their lives in a cage of their own making. These people suffer needlessly from depression, anxiety or a variety of psychological maladies. They are sometimes treated by secular humanists with mind altering medications that keep them imprisoned in their woeful state.

Most never make any attempt to flee their miseries because they love the cage and their state of self-induced misery. They reach out to others with their cry for help, and are dependent on others, as opposed to self-reliance. Their collective miseries may be remedied, but they are unwilling. Few ever break the stranglehold and live (if we can call it living) a life devoid of joy and and productiveness.

The cage of blind obedience

This is one of the worst cages a person can live in. People who simply go with the flow so as not to ruffle any feathers are enslaved by the State. Dependency is not freedom, but a chain that slowly but surely eats away at the soul like rust.

Soft tyranny has increased over the past two decades to the point that 90% of the populace of the world are asleep at the wheel of life.

By and large, the 90% are hoodwinked by their respective State apparatuses. In this manner, then, totalitarianism may only flourish when there is a significantly large and deep-rooted quantity of any society structure that quietly loves tyranny and desires its continued existence. We 5 percenter's owe it to the 90% to awaken them from their self-imposed slumber.

“A really efficient totalitarian state would be one in which the all-powerful executive of political bosses and their army of managers control a population of slaves who do not have to be coerced, because they love their servitude.” ― Aldous Huxley, Brave New World.

The cage of spiritual malaise

This cage is perhaps the worst of them all. According to an unnamed author from the news agency Reuters, "People with no religious affiliation make up the third-largest global group in a new study of the size of the world’s faiths" (see link below).

The number of irreligious people continues to grow worldwide. They hope in themselves and the abilities, while others place what hope they possess in manmade idols of wood, stone, humanism and technology.

Make no mistake about it, these individuals love the dark paths of spirituality rather than the light. They are headed for eternal destruction because they have committed adultery with their idols and refused to recognize God and walk in His light.

We who would refuse to love the world and anything in it must of a necessity remember we are under constant spiritual attack.

Spiritual malaise and denying evil forces who work against us in the heavenly realms only serves to defeat God's purposes for our lives. We who would be free from bondage to sin must heed the words of God entrusted to James by the Holy Spirit:

"Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" (James 4:7, NIV).

Think about it

Are you part of the 5% who remain awake and free from slavery? Or are you part of the 90% that love their cages created by the 1% and managed by the 4%, who are controlled like puppets by evil entities in the heavenly realms?

Allow me to encourage you to examine yourself in private and seek God rather than others for His answers.
