Ponder these Things to Avoid Worry and Harmful Thinking

Some of us are worrying about what we will eat and how we will survive during these uncertain times. But I submit to you that worrying gets us nowhere. It's like rocking in a chair - how far do you go? There are 6 things we should ponder in life to make our daily living in a rapidly deteriorating world more palatable.

Truth

Truth matters and is not subjective. Our ability to discern the times informs us that we live in a rapidly changing world. Our cultures are being dismantled, beliefs altered, sexual identity of male and female discarded. Regarding the latter, biology dictates two sexes and no other choices. If we do not stand for the truth we will fall for anything. Seek out the truth of a matter, as opposed to going with the flow to be popular or conformist.

Noble

Be noble. We should think in terms of honesty. What, you received too much change after paying for something at the store? Don't pocket it, give it back. Are you selling something on Facebook or wherever and are not mentioning a defect? Do not do it. Be honest! Are you lying to your loved ones and friends? Why? Lies always come back to haunt you. It's easier to speak the truth in love than lie.

Recognize right

Our conscience always informs us of the next right thing to do or say. God has burned in our minds and souls the next right thing to do and makes a simple command to make the right choice. We all know what is right and wrong, but we often choose the wrong thing to do. We then regret our decision and suffer the consequences. Let us turn from these wrong decisions and do right, and in so doing please the Lord.

Morality and ethics are important. Remember the Golden Rule from elementary school? It's a simple rule than we far too often ignore because of selfish ambitions. But when we are done wrong, we lambast and lash out towards others. Are we not then hypocrites? Think about what is right and, to borrow a catchphrase, just do it.

Purity.

This word is the root word for “saint” and is defined as holy, morally clean, and undefiled. Wow. To be holy is to be set apart and obedient to God. Morality dictates to us things that are not ethical: abortion, murder, cheating, lying, and a whole lot more.

You don't even have to be religious to be pure and morally inclined, but it certainly helps. There's a lot about morality in philosophy. Let us think on how we may be guided by the Holy Spirit to be pure or, if you're not into religion, how we can connect with our inner selves and refrain from the words and acts that damage our character and impinge on our integrity.

Love

Not sex. We should always be thinking about cultivating and increasing our love for one another, our relationship and friendships, and amity among men. On the other hand, we should always be opposed to any thing that is contentious, avoid strife in our lives, and set aside our wrath and our jealousies and hatred. These destroy us and are unhealthy passions.

Can you remember the times when your words and actions caused you harm to yourself and others? I can. And I realize that these things were not done out of love. We need more love in this world. Each day has problems of its own, so why add to them unnecessarily?

Admirable.

We should ponder whatever is beautiful in the eyes of God. The created world: the heavens and the Earth. Helping others. Serving others (Jesus was a Servant!). Being a Good Samaritan. Looking out for others.

Think about what you can do today to help others make it through the day. What can we do to brighten their day, cause them to smile, and refrain from the worries of life?

All of the above are applicable to the religious and non-religious. We can and should do better. Make someone's day. Put off harmful thinking and ponder those things that keep us from worrying and act accordingly. Your life will be considerably better for it, along with the lives you impact.

This is very inspiring as I am one of those people who worry a lot...hahha but I'm trying my best not to these days. As you have said, worrying doesn't add any to my life instead, it lessens it.

Glad I was able to assist. Get into God's word, the Bible. Try memorizing Philippians 4:8 in the NIV version. It's rather easy and I have confidence you CAN do it.
