Many people have little to no clue clue regarding the difference between modern feminism and the empowerment of women. True, the two are loosely associated, but vastly different, especially when under the scope of God's word in the Holy Bible, our basic instruction before leaving Earth.
Early Feminism
Early feminism was radical and fostered in an era of rebellion that has been exacerbated by contemporary feminists. One of the noble achievements emanating from early feminism was gaining the right to vote. But today's feminism has turned women off in droves, primarily because of its collective push to decry masculinity and other demands, which I will address in this post. Demands are signs of arrogance and pride, which women should avoid like the plague.
Women's Empowerment
The growing movement to empower women is different than modern feminism. It seeks equality in pay, rightful standing among men, and equal rights under the law. There is nothing sinister about this whatsoever. Unlike feminism, it is not based on radical concepts, absurd demands or a defiance of God. Additionally, it lines up with God-ordained rights, which are indisputable.
God's Word
Feminism fails the smell test when interpreting it in light of God's word. This is because it is a humanistic approach to seek solutions to any perceived inequality. Humanism is the antithesis (exact opposite) of God's teaching. It is a world view that essentially rejects God's teachings. God's word reminds us to be in the world but not a part of the worldly system. This is because the world system is evil and at enmity (war) with God.
Contrasts between Feminism and God's Word
Delving deeper into the issue, we find that modern feminism seeks to flip the script, as it were, and change God's concept of femininity. This, then, is a rejection of God's word. God initiated a hierarchy: God the Father, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Man, Woman, Children. Note that there is no mention of any other gender, because this is important.
Feminism makes attempts to redefine God's hierarchy. For example, modern feminists have made inroads as far as changing the language. One does not have to read far in the news to see its infection. Mailman has been coined mail person, even if the carrier is a man; and likewise with chairman and councilman (as well as many other examples).
Feminists also push for gender equality, thus making an ungodly attempt to redefine femininity and masculinity. This defies God's roles for men and women.
Additionally, modern feminists push abortion on demand, another ungodly practice. Indeed, abortion is a polite euphemism for murder, which is what God calls it.
Another departure from God's teaching is the support of lesbianism. But what does God say? "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. "Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones" (Romans 1:26, NIV).
Eve bought into the lie in the Garden of Eden, from where sin originated. This was the foundation of the feminist movement. Her lust for the forbidden was based on her pride.
We may observe from just a few examples above that modern feminism is antithetical to God's word. On the other hand, God's word provides for the empowerment of women. Women have an equal right to every blessing from God that comes from his vast storehouse of blessings. We read: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28).
Conclusion
There remain barriers to true equality and these will remain because we live in a sinful world. Men should treat women as equals, women should treat men as equals. The solution pushed by feminists is based on arrogance and pride and it counterproductive. Only one's obedience to God's command will ever bring about inequality, not humanistic demands.
Regarding a noble women, we need look no further than Proverbs chapter 31, where we read in part:
"Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Honor her for all that her hands have done,
and let her works bring her praise at the city gate" (Proverbs 21:10-31, NIV).
Nice, ma'am. My ex is a feminist and is incapable of hearing anything from a male.
