I Wear it for "their" Amusement

Prior to the onset of the global pandemic in early 2020, I wore a mask one time: at a Halloween party in October of 2019. I went as Batgirl. Little did I know the future significance of that costume party. Bats. Virus. Masks. Mutations. Whoa, Daddy!

Here's a very similar image of my Halloween costume.

Doo, doo, doo, doo doo doo doo doo do.

Pow!

And then a few months later it hit the #Philippines, my beloved country, the China virus. Initial reports stated that either a testing of bats in a level 4 lab or someone eating or selling the lab bats in the Wuhan wet market had unleashed a deadly respiratory strain.

If you were like me, you wondered what in Hades was happening, as we all went into a "temporary lockdown". Darn near everything closed in my Barangay. Food became scarcer, and people did as well. We all huddled in our humble abodes to wait out the 2 weeks, as if the end of the world was drawing near. #Lazada and #Shopee became our go to shopping for needed supplies.

Some even drank their way through the initial ordeal until their foggy minds came to the realization that they had a 99.8% chance of surviving.

Zap!

The government, on advice from the World Health Organization (WHO), DOH and the CDC, quickly mandated the wearing of face masks. The price of the N-95 mask skyrocketed and sold out faster than a PARTAS bus on a Mountain Province downgrade. Hoarders and unscrupulous business people scooped up the masks and sat on them as the prices soared. Big money lined the pockets of these evildoers.

Then, as #Filipinos are known to do, and as necessity became the mother of invention and kicked into high gear, cloth masks appeared everywhere: in the market, roadside and in malls. Everywhere!

But I knew from diligent research that masks did not work and that nothing could save me or my son from the deadly virus. You may find and read the scientific journal article below on Google #Scholar (as well as many more recent journal articles that delve deeper into the charade).

Swoosh!

As the months dragged on, and as new policies, restrictions, levels of quarantine and mandatory face shields were implemented, my suspicions concerning the long-term pandemic became fact. This would not end. The virus, like all viruses, would mutate into more virulent but less deadly strains.

But because of the new strains, our freedoms would be curtailed, and a new era of soft tyranny would unfold. It was Marcos 2.0, only on a global scale.

Most people are still in the dark about this. As evidence to this fact, you can see it on their #Facebook timeline when any city implements another quarantine. Hearts and likes explode on the post. I sigh because of the utter sadness of it all.

Uggh!

Based on scientific research, it did not take long for me to realize that the paltry collection of masks I had acquired were totally ineffective.

The pathogens were going right through any mask, N-95 or cloth. And shields? What a hoot! To think that sneezes, coughs and burps could not go under a shield were comical and devoid of critical thinking. The only hope was to buy a hazmat suit and bug out into the jungle to live with the other evil: the White Lady. If it weren't so sad, it would be hilarious.

Whack!

As new variants of the homicidal virus forced ultra-strict #ECQ lockdowns, the hammer fell on multiple people: citations, arrests and even a shooting resulting in death by tanod. Things were/are getting out of hand.

Political grandstanding is the new norm as the next presidential election draws near. While nobody may be certain what a new regime will bring, we may infer that behind the political masks lies a new masquerade of "safety for our own good."

And yellow vaccine cards are now required for certain travel. It smacks of the yellow stars Jews were forced to wear by Hitler's Third Reich. Ja, mein Fuhrer!

But none of this works; just read it here from #MIT scientists:

https://coldstreams.com/2021/04/23/mit-study-says-masks-distancing-dont-work/

Zowie!

The truth is that no vaccine will (or ever has) cured a respiratory virus. Never. But yes, I wear a mask when I enter into an establishment or ride the jeep, trike or drive my car into town. But I wear it for their amusement. I'm counting on my youth, good health and prayer to continue to avoid the coof. Perhaps you should as well.

Very few of us here near Canada wear masks. Canadians have even dropped all mandates after a recent court case.

Good for all of you. Here we are still required to wear them. I comply when I am in stores or outside of my home.

Well played with the Batman words. Soft tyranny. Marcos 2.0. Noted and agree.
