Nobody ever promised our lives would be easy. If you believe money and success are the answer to life's worries, you're barking up the wrong tree. Even the wealthy have problems of daily living. But there is a calm that is obtainable in this life, a calm that mitigates the anxiety and stress of one's life.
Anxious?
Who doesn't experience anxiousness at one time or another. We all do. If you read here on the platform like I do, you'll see many problems being expressed but not a lot of solutions.
Divorce, sickness and death, loss of freedoms, lack of food and money, sadness and depression, and a huge list of problems are voiced by our fellow members here on read.cash on a daily basis.
You are not alone. We are not alone.
Some people resort to fixing their problems, inclusive of anxiety and worry, by self-medicating with drugs, alcohol or even food. These "remedies" do not work but for a short span of time and actually exacerbate the problems we have.
But I've got good news for you: it doesn't have to be this way. Life certainly isn't the proverbial bowl of cherries or bed of roses, but we can add some whipped cream on top of our problems and mediate them.
A true story
2000 years ago Jesus and His disciples were on a boat in the Sea of Galilee. Jesus was snoozing. He was obviously tired from walking around the various towns of the sea preaching and teaching.
As the story goes, a huge storm stirred up and frightened even the fishermen aboard, who one would think were accustomed to them. After all, they were professional fishermen with a lot of experience at sea. So frightened that they would die, they awakened Jesus. But look at what Jesus said...
"You of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm" (Matthew 8:26, NIV).
Application
Far too frequently we make attempts to alleviate our anxiety, stress and assorted problems on our own terms instead of turning to God in faith. Like the disciples in the boat, we sometimes lack the faith to overcome the storms of life.
Pail, under the God-breathed inspiration of the Holy Spirit stated: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7, NIV).
There's our remedy! Sure, we will become anxious, but that isn't what Paul meant; he meant that we should immediately turn to the Lord and with a thankful heart ask for His help rather than depend on our own devices and cures.
Knowing Christ our Mediator is key to solving our problems and alleviating our worries. In the same way that He calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee, He can and will calm our storms of life. Let's lean on Him today and going forward rather than depend on our own understanding.
Indeed we are never alone. God is always with us
