The growing popularity of protein-rich foods is helping the jerky snack industry. Between 2017 and 2019, protein claims were used in over 15% of new meat snack releases around the world. The global meat snack sector, with the exception of the United States and South Africa, has remained undeveloped. After chips and almonds, jerky snacks are the fourth most popular savoury snack in the United States.
