The Museum was established in 1913 is a four storied building with forty galleries under its 4 departments of natural history, History and Classical Art, Ethnography and decorative art and Contemporary art and World civilization.
The museum has a vast and elaborate collection of old coins, books on art, ivory and silver filigree works, images made with metal, many textiles including the famed Muslin fabric and Nakshi Kantha, arms and ammunitions from the Mughal time, series of painting and sculptures dating back to the Buddhist and Muslim period, handicrafts and models of the village and city life and most importantly- priceless articles of the liberation war of Bangladesh which signifies the backbone of the history of Bangladesh can be found there.
The ground floor consists of some old guns at the entrance and the hall where the people book their tickets or assemble to hear the history of the museum. The hall leads to a grand staircase.
Many people visit the museum every day. Some come to spread their knowledge, some come to entertain, some come to spend leisure time. And this museum carries the heritage of our country.
যাদুঘরটি ১৯১৩ সালে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল একটি চারতলা ভবন যা এর ৪ টি বিভাগের অধীনে প্রাকৃতিক ইতিহাস, ইতিহাস ও শাস্ত্রীয় শিল্প, নৃতাত্ত্বিক এবং আলংকারিক শিল্প এবং সমসাময়িক শিল্প ও বিশ্ব সভ্যতার অধীনে চল্লিশটি গ্যালারী রয়েছে।
জাদুঘরে পুরানো মুদ্রা, শিল্পকলা, আইভরি এবং সিলভার ফিলিগ্রি রচনা সম্পর্কিত বই, ধাতু দিয়ে তৈরি চিত্র, খ্যাতিমান মসলিনের ফ্যাব্রিক এবং নকশী কাঁথাসহ অনেকগুলি টেক্সটাইল, মুঘল আমলের অস্ত্র ও গোলাবারুদ, সিরিজের চিত্রাঙ্কন এবং বিভিন্ন সংগ্রহ রয়েছে muse বৌদ্ধ ও মুসলিম আমলের প্রাচীন ভাস্কর্যগুলি, গ্রাম ও নগর জীবনের হস্তশিল্প এবং মডেল এবং বাংলাদেশের ইতিহাসের মেরুদণ্ডের ইঙ্গিতকারী বাংলাদেশের মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সবচেয়ে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ মূল্যবান নিবন্ধগুলি এখানে পাওয়া যাবে।
নিচতলায় প্রবেশদ্বার এবং হলটিতে কিছু পুরানো বন্দুক রয়েছে যেখানে লোকেরা তাদের টিকিট বুক করে বা সংগ্রহ করার জন্য যাদুঘরের ইতিহাস শুনতে আসে। হলটি একটি দুর্দান্ত সিঁড়ি নিয়ে যায়।
প্রতিদিন অনেক লোক যাদুঘরে যান। কেউ নিজের জ্ঞান ছড়িয়ে দিতে আসে, কেউ বিনোদনে আসে, কেউ আসে অবসর সময় কাটাতে। এবং এই যাদুঘরটি আমাদের দেশের ঐতিহ্য বহন করে।
