Venezuelan Food Tour:
I think that one of the things that we all like the most in life is eating, and I really make it difficult for someone not to truly enjoy it.
Although we all have different tastes, different food traditions, different cultures, there is something that unites us completely and that is the fact that we love to eat everything that is typical of our cultures.
And not only that, we also love that foreign people consume our typical foods.
That is why, today it fills me with happiness, to take you on a virtual tour of typical Venezuelan food, so if you spent the whole day with me, you would eat the following meals:
8:00 AM
I'll come looking for you very early, because honestly I'm hungry, so I'll take you to eat, the most important food in all of Venezuela, I don't know if you've ever heard about the "Arepas" but if you haven't heard it before, let me tell you What are they and how do you eat them?
Arepas are made from corn flour, and are only mixed with water to form a soft and moldable dough.
Then you make some little balls that will later be flattened in a "Budare" which is something similar to a kitchen griddle or a completely flat pan.
There they are placed in an extended way and turned until they are golden.
There are many ways to make arepas, they can be fried, roasted, yellow corn, white corn, wholemeal flour, with all the fillings you can imagine.
The arepa is our most important food because it is like our bread, it is breakfast and dinner for all Venezuelans, being so versatile we can eat it with everything you can imagine.
Today I will take you to try the most famous, which are the famous "Arepas peludas", do not be scared, they do not have hair, but they are called that because they are stuffed with shredded and seasoned meat, so it gives the impression that they are hair of hair.
I know you'll love this arepa, and as I write this I'm getting hungry haha.
10:00AM
It is time for a snack, and what better than in the tropical climate of Venezuela, where at around 10 in the morning there is a hot sun and a blue in the sky that makes you eat something very refreshing, so I will take you to drink the famous "Tizana".
The "Tizana" is basically like a fruit salad with orange juice and a little cola.
In it we find the most common fruits from here such as bananas, watermelon, melon, papaya, grapes, pineapples and in some cases apples.
She is served in a plastic glass, where they put a lot of condensed milk, then the Tizana and on top more condensed milk.
They usually sell them at stalls on the street and they are always close to a school or institution where there are many people, so that when they leave they go for their Tizana.
I hope you have refreshed yourself a bit with the citrus and sweet juices of this drink.
12:00 PM
Ok, I know you guys are hungry, so I'm taking you out to lunch.
If you are like me, that eating sweet things makes you hungry, then go quickly to a place where they sell "Cachapas"
Cachapas are another typical food of the country, in fact I think it is exclusive to Venezuela, and it is like a kind of sweet yellow corn pancake, which is usually filled with butter and cheese, and there are also other variations, of which my favorite en: Cachapas with butter, hand cheese, and fried pork.
I swear to you that there is no better combination than combining the sweetness of Cachapa with the saltiness of fried pork.
If I had to choose a typical Venezuelan food, I would choose the Cachapas a thousand times, marry them and eliminate the whole world.
I warn you that you are going to be very full, they usually fill a lot, but you will be like the famous saying "Full belly, happy heart" trust me.
4:00 PM
We were so full with the Cachapas, that we fell asleep all afternoon hahaha but now we are ready to continue exploring Venezuelan food.
In this case, I will buy you another snack, here this type of food is called "Chucherías" and it is that type of fried food that comes in bags, like Doritos and Cheetos, but this time I will bring you a completely original one from Venezuela and it is the " Cheesee Tris"
They are cheese-flavored puffed corn sticks, and they are perfect to eat when you are watching a movie or just bored, they are delicious and you will not regret eating them, what if you can regret it is that once you try one, you will you will eat the whole bag.
8:00 PM
Heck, it's been a really long day full of meals, our tummies are full and happy.
But it's time to close with a flourish, so I'm taking you out to dinner.
You're thinking it's going to be a special dinner, right?
But you're not wrong, because that's how it will be, with the difference that it won't be in a very elegant place, since we'll be eating on the street.
I will take you to eat something that you may be used to seeing, but surely the touch you will find here will be unique and unrepeatable.
I'm talking about the "Hot Dogs", but not just any, but the Venezuelans, which are stuffed in a very different way.
I'll tell you how they go stuffed:
They have hot dog buns, a sausage of course, here they put a kind of cabbage and carrot salad, it also has onion and green dressing, french fries and a lot of cheese, parmesan or yellow.
But not everything ends there, then comes something that cannot be missing in a Venezuelan hot dog and that is what makes it different, and that is the rooms.
A Venezuelan hot dog has abundant sauce, but not only the three typical ones (mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise) but other typical ones such as garlic sauce, corn sauce, tartar sauce, bacon sauce, cheddar sauce, BBQ sauce, and even spicy .
So get ready to fill your face with sauces and eat something very special and unique like a Venezuelan hot dog, yes, after eating one you will want to eat another.
I hope that you have been very full in this gastronomic tour, that above all you have liked having traveled virtually through food, that you have been able to savor each meal that I described and above all that one day you will have the opportunity to try some Venezuelan food, I promise you that you will not regret.
Please tell me what has been your favorite dish?
