Why am I so insecure?

Most of us feel insecure sometimes, but some of us feel insecure most of the time. The kind of childhood you had, past traumas, recent experiences of failure or rejection, loneliness, social anxiety, negative beliefs about yourself, perfectionism, or having a critical parent or partner can all contribute to insecurity. Being insecure to someone is one of our bad habit as a human, we tend to look beyond ourselves just to be like someone. We forgot that everyone is unique in its own way, we do not need to copy somebody's lifestyle because being yourself is enough to please anyone. And when it comes to luxury things instead of being insecure of them having that why not keep that as an inspiration in order to strive more in life.

The Effect of Insecurity

•Insecurity can lead to mental health issues like depression, low self-esteem, and anxiety. They are also often a contributing factor to eating disorders and substance use disorders.

•Insecurity can affect us in countless areas of our lives. Every person will notice their inner critic being more vocal in one area or another. For example, you may feel pretty confident at work but completely lost in your love life or vice versa. You may even notice that when one area improves, the other deteriorates. Most of us can relate, at one time or another, to having self-sabotaging thoughts toward ourselves about our career. Old feelings that we are incompetent or that we will never be acknowledged or appreciated can send our insecurities through the roof.

•Relationships, in particular, can stir up past hurts and experiences. They can awaken insecurities we’ve long buried and bring up emotions we don’t expect.

How to overcome insecurity?

KNOW YOUR VALUE

•Valuing yourself and not comparing it to others is a best way to avoid insecurity, you will feel wealthy inside and will gain confidence at the same time.

PRIORITIZE YOUR NEEDS

•Prioritizing your basic needs such as food, clothes and shelter will be a great advantage because it helps you discipline the way you think by putting first the important things before anything else.

EMBRACE YOUR FLAWS

•If you can embrace your flaws you can start being more true to yourself by accepting that you are not perfect. It allows you to measure things with the right perspective. In a more general sense, you are framing your reality more soundly and not based on a false notion of self.

BE HAPPY

• True happiness comes within yourself so make the best choices in life that will never put you to regrets. In the state of happiness it promotes and help to combat with mental health issues and improve your lifestyle.
