Leadership is important in being a nurse because it helps patients and communities achieve better health outcomes. The growing need to improve the quality of care in our health-care systems necessitates competent nursing leadership and it is a valuable tool for enhancing our patient care as well as the health care system as a whole.

A nurse must be adaptable to change hospitals need nurses who are open to new ideas and flexible enough to work through challenging issues such as dealing with challenging priorities and workloads.
