The construction of this mosque building takes a combination of India (Mughal), the Middle East (Arab and Persian), Spain (Andalusia), Turkey (Ottoman), and Europe. This mosque was Architected by Van Erp and JA Tingdeman who came from the Netherlands. The mosque tower section has two parts, namely the Karangan behind which there are the graves of the Malay kings, the Governor of North Sumatra, and the Haji, the sibarani book teacher, who was the founder of the Zending Islam Indonesia Foundation.
