Hi my dear friends, today I will tell you about my trip 3 days ago. I visited a palace in the city of Medan. But the palace is no longer a palace, but a historical tourist spot in the city of Medan. There is a historical story contained in this place.

This maimun palace was built by Sultan Mahmud Al Rasyid and served as the center of government for the Deli Sultanate. This palace was first built on August 28, 1887, and was completed on May 18, 1898. Maimun Palace has an area of 2772 square meters and has 30 rooms. If you want to visit this place, you only need to pay Rp. 10,000 ($ 0.7) to experience the sensation of Malay culture in this maximum palace.

The decoration in this palace building combines many cultural elements in its architecture, namely Malay, European, and Middle Eastern. To produce a distinctive architectural character. The furniture that adorns the palace is European influences, the curved roof like an upside-down boat is influenced by Middle Eastern culture, and the yellow color that dominates the palace is the color of the greatness of the Malay kingdoms.

The palace building consists of two floors, and only the second floor is open to the public. Maimun Palace also has three main building parts, including the main building, the right-wing, and the left-wing.

In the main building, it is used as a place for the coronation ceremony of the Sultan of Deli. There will be a throne dominated in yellow with exquisite details. Not to mention the ornaments installed around the room. This room contains a collection of royal relics, such as chairs, tables, and cabinets. Visitors can also see photos of the sultan's kingdom and various types of weapons and partly now, the room is used to view various collections of royal relics. There are also photographs of the sultan's kingdom, old Dutch household furniture, and various types of weapons. So, tourists can take advantage of this room to take pictures.

In addition, this palace has a distinctive cannon called a butt cannon. This cannon is said to be the incarnation of Mambang Khayali, Putri Hijau's younger sister from the Deli Tua Kingdom. Once upon a time, he turned into a cannon to defend the palace from the attack of the King of Aceh, whose proposal was rejected by Putri Hijau.

To capture the moment, tourists can rent traditional Malay clothes provided by the palace. The rental price ranges from Rp. 10,000 to Rp. 30,000 depending on the number of accessories chosen. Tourists can also hire a photographer, who can print the photos immediately, for only Rp.10,000.

Maimun Palace is open every day from Monday to Sunday from 08.00 to 17.00 WIB. While looking around, tourists can watch Malay music performances, from Monday-Thursday 10.30-12.00, Friday-Saturday 14.00-15.30 and Sunday 10.00-12.00. If you want to buy souvenirs, there are many shops selling souvenirs around the palace.
