“HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE 0.2”
This is the continuation of my previous article about being productive. My inspiration in writing these series of article is based on my personal experiences. I am glad to share this with you and I hope that this can help you in your journey towards productivity. Now I am going to discuss the second tip on how to become productive. Being productive or unproductive is a choice to make because no one is born that way. Many of us want to be the “best version” of ourselves but only a few of us take the step towards being like that. This is not a onetime big time change. We will be taking one step at a time so brace yourself for the things you’re about to read.
TIPS ON HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE:
START YOUR DAY RIGHT.
MAKE UP YOUR MIND.
What do you think about before going to bed? Night time is rest time but it is also the time to reflect and evaluate the things you did and you did not do for the whole day. When you are working you tend to think about the job you have finished or the things you haven’t finished. Even the bills you have to pay are running on your mind. When you are a student, you tend to think about your online class, upcoming deadlines or even your crush. When you are unemployed, you tend to think about ways on how to get a job or you just think of how you let the day pass by without making a significant change with yourself.
What do you think about as you open your eyes after sleeping? You might be thinking about yesterday or you might be thinking about how you can finish your list of things to accomplish. As you start your day your mind starts working for you as well. Literally mind does not stop working. It is the reason for having dreams. Your mind is as important as your physical body. You have to take care of it and make sure that it is well.
What do you feed your mind? Your mind is a battle ground and you are the one in control over it at all times. You will not get hurt if you don’t allow your mind to make you feel hurt. Well this isn’t about physical pain. This is actually about emotional pain. You can either sulk on a corner when harsh words stab you or you can block it by knowing your worth. The music you listen to or the movies you watch affects your mind. You have to be careful on what you feed your mind because it is what keeps you going towards being productive.
How do you train your mind? As athletes train physically, they also train their minds. The body and the mind must be in sync in order for it to function well. Most of the times things are simple and easy but because we have a brain, it becomes a lot difficult than it seems and it make things complicated. This is why training the mind is as important as training the physical body.
HOW TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND?
A. Choose what you will think about the whole day. When you start your day with negativity, surely the rest of the day will be filled with pessimism. On the other hand, when you start your day by thinking happily and positively, surely your whole day will be filled with optimism. It is like choosing the right from wrong. But sometimes we choose to feed ourselves with the situation we have, the circumstances we face, and we divert our attention on the things which we do not have. This is very unhealthy because it causes your mind to think harder about it.
B. Process your thoughts. You see most of the things that we think about are the things which we do not have a control of. No one can hurt you without your permission. Think about the things which are important. Think about your family, friends, future goals because it is what will fuel your mind to do things better. Remember that everything starts in the mind before it is processed by the body.
C. Share your thoughts to the person you trust. Not everything that happens to you must be shared in social media. Your privacy is often times kept by the people around you. It’s either your family, friends, spouse or your church members. You don’t need to keep everything to yourself. It is why you have people around you. When you achieved something or when you are going through something you need someone to share it with. No man is an island so you don’t need to go through things by yourself.
D. Nourish your mind with the word of God. Take time to read the Bible because everything written in it are proven and tested. Everything that you are looking for are in the Bible. It is what comforts the weary soul. When you think that no one cares or no one understands the Bible will tell you the truth that you are loved and you are very important to God.
E. Take time to organize your thoughts. This pandemic has caused many people to become stressed, agitated and anxious. You can get a pen and a paper to organize your thoughts. You can have a journal where you can write everything that bothers you. I believe that there are personal matters which you can’t share with others. As you write your thoughts it makes you feel more empowered in handling your current situation. As I said earlier you must take one step at a time. The more you rush, the higher the tendency for you to have scattered thoughts.
F. Pray. This is the most effective way for me. The things which bothers me and the weight on my chest is lifted as long as I start talking to God. I tell him everything. I can cry as much as I want without being bothered on how He will see me after. I am able to say my deepest thoughts and my deepest pain to Him. He is always there for me and as long as I finished praying, my situation is till the same but I feel a lot better knowing that I was able to release it all to God. The more I read and memorize the scriptures the more I am able to see my worth and my value. It makes me see how important am I.
~ The human mind is very powerful. Having the right thoughts and perspective are the key factors in keeping the mind healthy. Instead of looking on the negative side, you can control your mind to focus on the positive side.
~ Read informative and helpful books or articles. Listen to sensible songs. Watch wholesome movies or videos. Practice writing poem or journal. Allow yourself to be empowered not by other people but by YOURSELF.
~ You must be the first one to see how valuable you are. The more that you accept who you are, the easier for the people around you to recognize you.
~ Do not allow yourself to overthink. Overthinking kills. Focus on the things at hand. Your 'buts' and 'what ifs' are not helpful at all. There's nothing wrong with trying to do new things as long as it makes you better.
~ Do not seek acceptance from others, seek acceptance from yourself. Acknowledge that you can still improve and that you are doing well in getting there. Yes you might be flawed but that is natural. No one is born perfect. Make your beauty your own standard of beauty.
~ Live your life accordingly. As you try to make your mind healthy make your physical body healthy as well.
"You are doing well! Just keep fighting!"
