Oftentimes people tend to shield themselves from the harsh reality of life. It's one of the reasons why many people wanted to have distraction even if it's just for a few hours. It's as though they find peace in doing something most people question or don't understand.
Each person has a different definition of escape or unwinding or whatever it is called but the root cause of all those things falls into wanting to be free from everything that creates chaos within or makes a person feel sad, disappointed and lonely.
Alcoholic beverages
Many people drink to forget the problems that they have even though they know that they'll have hang over and headache the next day. They'd indulge themselves to temporary happiness just to ease the heavy burden they're carrying in their hearts.
Smoking/Vaping
They say that smoking is their way of relieving stress. I have also encountered someone who vape whenever he wants to clear his head off. He said that it was a way of feeling a lot better and lighter with the things going on around him.
Drugs
People who use drugs slowly loses the ability to think properly. They say that they're in heaven while on high but they are actually destroying themselves little by little. They find peace and comfort that drugs give them even though they know it's bad side effects to them.
Social media
Many people lives in the virtual world. They like to post things which aren't true. They find peace and joy in having many followers, likes, comments, shares and reactions. They like to keep everything perfect they love the attention that the world gives them.
Online Games
Mobile legends and other online games are also a way of unwinding. Thinking that it's much better to play online in order to ease the stress they feel. They even buy skins and watch battles online. They also follow the gamers and find strength and hope in them thinking that it's also possible for them to be successful in playing online games.
Gadgets
One of the human nature is the inability to feel contented. People always long for more and that more means continuously desire for something better. There's nothing wrong about aiming to become better or aiming for more more but there is a huge difference between being wanna be and having the capacity to do so. If it's not possible at the moment, it will definitely be possible the next time.
Among those things, the best conclusion is the fact that we all need some time to spend by ourselves wherein we will just enjoy, feel safe and secured. We all deserve a vacation not thinking about our problems, bills, jobs, and just to be genuinely happy with everything that we have.
We all.long to have peace of mind and do what makes us happy but the reality of life is the fact that we are all tied to our responsibilities.
It's okay to cry when everything is too much. It's okay to take a break and pause. It's okay to feel exhausted. It's okay to feel down or broken but never forget to get back on track not just for others but mainly for yourself.
Personal Experience:
I want to escape from everything and just runaway to a place where no one knows me. I want to sleep and wake up happily. I want to think about myself only and not be bothered by my responsibilities but that's not possible. I can't just be selfish and think of myself. I have a responsibility as a sister and daughter that no one else can do for me.
I feel exhausted and tired but I can't stop now. I want to just give and live for myself but I can't. So the only way for me to move forward is by convincing myself that I need to take a step each day. Be I'd like to be happy and it's my choice to do so.
