Elon Musk Asks Twitter Users Whether Donald Trump Should Be Reinstated
Introduction
Donald Trump’s time on Twitter was short-lived. The social network’s new owner, tech billionaire Elon Musk, announced this morning that he plans to reinstate the former president to the platform after taking over on Thursday night. Reinstate former President Trump, the billionaire tweeted this afternoon, linking to an online vote by Twitter users about whether the former President of the United States should be reinstated to the platform or not.
What did Musk say?
Reinstate former President Trump, the billionaire Twitter owner posted, citing a poll by Truth Social, an app that allows users to create their own polls. The poll is not scientific and has so far garnered more than 6 million votes.
The poll does not seem to be having an impact on Tesla’s share price, which has sold more than $1 billion in shares since the change of ownership of the electric car company Tesla last year.
Reality Social's website says it offers tools for the voice of the people is the voice of God.
Musk also asked his followers to let him know if they thought he should delete his account or keep it.
Why did he say it?
In a series of tweets, Elon Musk shared his thoughts on whether or not President Trump should be reinstated to the platform. The post seemed to come out of nowhere and it is currently unclear as to why he is tweeting about this. It could be in response to the ban on President Trump’s account on the social network or an ad hoc poll that was conducted by Space-X. Regardless, it’s interesting because he sold more than $1 billion in shares of his own company and he has 88 million followers.

How did people respond?
Many users responded positively to the idea of getting President Trump back on Twitter. Yes please, one user tweeted. We want our president to be able to communicate with us, another wrote.
Others had different opinions, however. One person pointed out that Twitter is not a mouthpiece for world leaders while another said the result would be a distraction from more important issues that need attention. Elon Musk himself has previously been critical of President Trump and his tweets in the past, tweeting about him in 2018: Trump might have a point about Fake News, he posted on April 18th.
What do experts think?
Some experts think Elon Musk’s ad hoc poll on whether or not to re-instate Donald Trump is a way for the Tesla CEO to flex his muscles and show the world he can do what he wants. Others, however, think that it might be an innocent question designed to get feedback from people. With Twitter being one of the most popular platforms in existence and having sold more than $1 billion in shares since it went public, there are many questions about what will happen if they remove their most popular user. There are also rumors circulating that tweets mentioning truth social had been deleted by moderators of the platform which has been called a popular platform among users.
