A lot has happened, but I want to talk about rape case, a lady was raped and murdered right in the church in my country, that is the height of heinousness. We have been protesting online, chanting no to rape but will that solve the problem? chanting no to rape can not solve the problem although protests create awareness and draw attention to the issue so that appropriate authority can intercede, in some cases our chanting amounts to nothing, this is why we need to act.
We the female counterparts need to protect ourselves first before the voice we seek comes, rape case is increasing by the day, and who is being raped? We the females. Time to fight for our selves is now, and to achieve that we need to:
Acquire defensive skills: it's high time we learn to defend ourselves, most of us can not even exercise because we are too conscious of our stature, some belief exercising or acquiring defensive skills will make them look boyish but this is not true, there are some defensive skills you can learn and still look sexy as ever. We need to be strong mentally and physically. If you can't fight the oppressors you can at least free yourself from them if you have defensive skills.
Avoid lonely places: most of us love our quiet moment, it's nice but don't always stay alone. That rapist can only attack you when you are alone so avoid lonely places as much as possible.
Learn to be courageous and bold: some become rape victims because they were scared or shy to scream. You visited someone and he started misbehaving instead of you to shout, you kept quiet because you wouldn't want people to judge you, others fall to treats by their despot. Scream at any opportunity you get, your oppressor means no well for you so scream if you can.
Avoid late night: keeping late night is not good for a lady anything can happen to you on the way if you keep late night. Stay back once you noticed you have run out of time, apart from getting raped you can get injured or robbed.
The above measures are not guaranteed ways to avoid getting raped but I believe they can help in a little way, above all never expose yourself. When you dress half naked you are making yourself prey to the rapist, men are moved by what they see, the more you expose your body the more they wish to explore you.
