So many countries are where they are today as a result of how good they handled those who were aspiring and pushing for a better governance by their leaders.before we go ahead let's just take a closer look at the definition of activism.

Activism consist of efforts to impede,to oppose or to direct or intervene in a social, political, economic or environmental reforms with the desire to making changes in society towards a perceived greater good. Now we can all see from the definition that activism is mainly a tool to check the excesses of the government, people who engage in this are called activist. Activism in Nigeria is seen and treated as taboo by the Nigerian elites and leaders.they see anybody or any group complaining about the bad management of the resources of the coinyas an enemy of the state.

Over the years so many men have led down their life in a bid to make sure that Nigeria is a better place where we can all beat our hands to our chest and call a home, but this has failed we have seen so many evil vices happened in the past but yet our leaders whom we called on to serve have turned around to make themselves masters at the detriment of the Nigerian masses not withstanding the promises and the glory our heroes who fought for our independence saw and where on the way to archiving that if not that their days on earth was cut off.:Death is equally a necessity'.let'stake a look at some of the persons who picked up the courage to speak against the barbaric actions of the Nigerian government.

One of the persons to have championed a curse for a better Nigeria whose life was cut Is 'ken saro wiwa,'Ken a writter,a businessman and an activist pushed for a better Nigeria just shortly after he served as the civilian administrator in the bonny camp during the civil war Nigeria had with the eastern people called biafra.ken so much believed in one Nigeria that the tv station he had was promoting togetherness as one could hardly tell the state his workers came from.he believed in creating a Nigeria that would be a home for all.Baba failed though. He once qouted to"i tell you this:even though I am dead my ideas will never die.Ken was eventually killed because he was speaking against the terrible behavior of the Nigerian military and equally against the shell petroleum company on the pollution of the niger delta land with compensating it's victims.nwxt on our line is chinua achebe .

Achebe is perhaps one of the greatest novelist of his time ,his book things fall apart was a master piece and perhaps one of the most highly read books in contemporary literature. He championed vigorously for the emancipation of the Nigerian people from the claws and shackles of bad governance,he blamed the leaders for being docile and equally of not being innovative and honest in thier dealing, his book 'thier was a country is a guide to knowing the truth about the state of Nigeria.Another avid activist was fela juri who advocated good governance through his songs,at one time fela was said to be making moves inorder to become the president of Nigeria. He was the mouth piece of the oppressed,he spoke against the evils of the government without fear, and was eventually thrown into the prison though he came out die to the petitions and the various protests held across the country.he used his music to fight against the evil vices of the government, even his house was a danger zone but all of these didn't stop or deter him from speaking up,he once said 'i want peace and happiness not only for my self but for everybody.

Notable of the fight for a good nation is wole soyinka 'the man dies in all who keep silent in the face of tgranny. His achievement in literature and political activism confirms to this.as a 33year old.soyinka was sentenced to prison and was really after nearly spending two years behind bars,he fled the country sometime latter in1994 when the military government declared him wanted stating charges of treason for criticising the juanita.Never to be forgotten is Gani fawehinmi. He was the attorney,he fought massively for the poor,at a point he was dealing on cases of the poor freely without collecting charges from them.Gani went through hell ,he was thrown into prison countless number of times but he still continued in what he was doing, his library was burnt, his travel passport ceased but all these could not deter him as he continued to search for ideas on how to defend the poor. Other notable persons in this struggle include adiche chimamanda, aisha yusufu and so many others who I couldn't mention.i summerize by letgyus know that no man is an iceland of knowledge so is also no government is an iceland of knowledge, the government should be opened to criticism wheather negative, and should try as much as theu can to correct thier mistakes.

Enjoy.

Political activism would only be independent and enjoyed when the government isn't criticising and using force or power to trash it
