Christine had just graduated from high school. She was having holidays and taking preparation for college. But soon she learnt that she was expecting a baby. It was a bolt from the blue for her. She cried out and went to her mom for help. But she got angry; and told her that she had no intention of babysitting her child. She told Christine to go to her boyfriend's place.
As she didn't get any help from her mom, she went to Scott. But she was not ready for the baby either. He told her that he could not take the responsibility right then and he advised her not to have that baby. She was astonished but thought that maybe he was right.
She had a difficult choice to make. It was not easy at all. She went to the hospital and had gone through some examinations. And seeing the reports her doctor said to her that if she didn't keep the baby, she would not be able to have any more children.
So, she decided to keep the baby and managed to get a job at a restaurant. She didn't get any person to help with her life. She had to leave her parents' home too. However, the restaurant manager said that they had night shifts and day shifts available and asked her which one she wanted. She replied that she wanted to work in the both as she was in need of money.
Her days were going better. Her co-workers were good mannered and behaved in a kind way with her. And then she met Jim. He was also a waiter in that restaurant. He was a ladies' man who kept flirting with girls. One day, he was flirting with a customer. Everyone knew about him and so took it as fun. The lady customer also didn't mind and everyone was laughing. That time the manager came and asked Jim who was going to do his jobs. He felt embarrassed and left for work. His gestures made everyone laugh again. Christine also laughed for this funny man.
However, she was yet to manage a house for sleeping. So, she secretly slept at her workplace at night. But Jim caught her when she was about to sleep that night. He was there with another girl and asked Christine what she was doing there so late. She replied that she was trying to sleep, but he and the girl would not let her.
Christine was stunned when Jim insisted her to move in with him. He himself packed her stuffs and took her to his home. He told her that she was expecting and she could not live in such conditions. He also added that his roommate had just moved out. So, from that day, she started living in Jim's place.
When she had her daughter, he helped her with the baby a lot. And as the baby grew up, they became friends over the years. They played together and the girl also could insist him to play more with her. Everything was perfect and Christine felt love for him. He may have the same but no one had ever expressed.
And then something unexpected happened. 10 years later Scott, her girl's father, found them and they met in a restaurant. He was a grown up man then and requested her to let him talk to his daughter. He said that he was so sorry for leaving her back then.
Jim was against the idea, just like Christine was. But her daughter, Miley wasn't as she needed a father. Scott bought her a doll and the girl was so happy with the gift. She also showed it to her mom and told her that her dad had bought it for her. She was the only person who was over the moon.
However, Jim and Scott got some time together. Neither of them were behaving in a friendly way. Jim kept silent but Scott was poking him all the time. He asked Jim that if he was the man who was seeing his daughter and his daughter's mom. He exclaimed with negligence. He then again asked what he could give Christine as he was just a waiter and he had his own business.
So, Christine decided to approach Jim and apologize for Scott's behavior. He forbade her to apologize. He said that he could take it for her. She felt love for him and asked him the reason. He said, "Because I love..." And could not complete the sentence because Scott interrupted them. Christine didn't know what to say to him after that moment with Jim.
But He suggested her to start over as Miley needed a real family. Christine again felt the difficulty of making a decision. But Jim made her choice easier. The next night, Jim brought a girl in the house. Christine got angry and asked what she was doing there. She reminded him that they had a deal 'no girls in the house when Miley was there'. But Jim replied that that was his house and he did what he wanted. She was shocked and he along with the girl approached towards his room.
Christine ended up marrying Scott, but their marriage didn't last. Eight years passed, and one day she was walking home from work. That time she saw a sign with her name on it! She was astonished and wanted to figure out everything. She entered into the restaurant and learned that the chef of it was Jim. It was clear to her that he loved her.
As soon as Jim saw her, he said that he had been waiting for her. But Christine still had grief for his bringing a girl home that day. She asked him why he did so back then.
He thought he would not be able to give her what Scott could give her. So he decided to push Christine away. That night he didn't even touch the girl, he just sat on the bed and cried overnight. And that girl became angry with him and asked if she was there only to see his crying.
Christine hugged Jim and after that fateful encounter they had never been apart. She felt so sorry for him. She told Jim that it was Scott who could not give her what he could give her and still can.
