The Tale of the Two Princes : Vying for the Throne │ Part 1

Once upon a time, in a distant castle, there lived a pair of handsome princes, Prince Nathan and Prince William. They're very close together. They share the same bedroom interior, outfits, jewelries, and even crowns. Their parents, the king and queen, love them so much.

As they got older, the king and queen noticed that Prince Nathan is strong, courteous, diligent, kind-hearted, and cheerful, which is a kingly attitude. Prince William, on the other hand, is diametrically opposite to his brother. He's obstinate, sluggish, arrogant, and boastful.

One day, the king invited his two princes to ride their horses around the courtyard of the castle. Before they could get very far, the king's horse became enraged, and the monarch fell on his horse. The king's servants approached him quickly and brought him to his bedroom.

According to the doctor, the king had just one month remaining in his life due to a brain complication caused by the accident. The king promptly summoned his two sons for a will-writing caucus.

"My dear sons, I'm sure you've heard that I'm about to die. Don't be sad because of it. I'm glad I've seen you two mature into fine men who will protect our kingdom in the future. Before I die, I want you to grant my final wish."

"What exactly is it, Father? You know I'll do anything for you, right?" Prince William said enthusiastically.

"Seriously, William?; Don't say that, father. There has to be another way for you to be treated. This kingdom needs you." Prince Nathan frowned at his brother.

"Oh, Nathan! Come on! I'm sure you're eagerly looking forward to receiving your inheritance as well. Let's not play games here, brother." William smirked.

"Enough of this nonsense! Can't you see? Your father is dying, and you're debating over your inheritance in front of him? What an imbecile!" The Queen exclaimed.

"Calm down, my queen. Let's get things settled so we can put this conversation to rest." the king whispered with his eyes closed and grasping his queen's hand.

"I hereby declare that whomever of you two marries first and has a kid will be crowned king of this kingdom." the king proclaimed.

"But, my king—" the queen attempts to defy his king's will.

"That is final. I ordered. Now you can go back to your rooms." the king said firmly.

Prince Nathan was confused as he walked out of his father's room. Many thoughts were racing through his head and he did not realize that he had reached the forbidden forest, which his father had warned them not to enter because of the ferocious creatures that live there.

He drew his sword and took a step back from the woods. He was about to leave the forest when he heard someone scream.

"HEEEEEELLLLLPPPPP!!"

Just like the usual fairytale, of course, it's a lady's voice. He searched every corner of the forest for the owner of that voice. He is concerned that she will be devoured by the forest's wild creatures.

He found a gigantic strange creature approaching the tree where the lady is hiding. He approached the monster's back with caution and sawed it in half.

"T-Thank you. I thought I was going to die," the lady said trembling without looking at him.

"Don't mention it. You can come with me to the castle. It's a safer place—" He suddenly froze as the beautiful lady he was with finally showed her face.

They locked their gazes on one other. There are no words coming out of their mouths. As though they were communicating in a language that only the two of them could understand. That must be love at first sight.
