Meditation, although is yet proven to cure some certain ailments but patients recount that it comes in handy when used alongside more conventional ways of treating. One of the usefulness of Meditation is that it helps in reducing anxiety.

Meditation as a healing process;

Meditation has the power to transform the mind and the mind is able to transform the body. In the brain, there are two regions taking responsibility for depression, anger, stress and anxiety and they are the right prefrontal cortex and the amygdala. When your mind is agitated or upset, that is the time these two regions are most active, the left prefrontal cortex, on the other hand, is associated with feelings of peace, happiness, self-awareness and positivity. This region is activated in the brains of consistent meditators also respinsible for the production of the happy neurotransmitter serotonin. Prefrontal cortex usually helps with planning towards a goal and achieving that goal also, it is able to get input from different parts of the brain to process information and adapts accordingly. The prefrontal cortex contributes to a wide variety of executive functions which includes the ability to focus one’s attention and predicting the consequences of one’s actions.

There is something cogent and expedient to know which is, there is no certain posture or way to meditate because different people use different postures and meditate different ways namely; guided meditation, transcendental meditation, relaxation meditation, walking meditation, etc.. The initial step to take is surrendering to the moment, allowing yourself to be evidently present in your body, then your heart opens and becomes softened like wax, use that to guide yourself, with this you begin to heal yourself. Focusing on your breath is what will bring you back to the present at any moment you choose, breath is one's life force and anchor.

Scientific studies have shown that many forms of meditation is very helpful in reducing stress and its effect starting with mindfulness.
