Self-communication...
Tomorrow will be my mass communication class so I was making an assignment for my subject on the topic of believing in self-communication. All thoughts that I am going to share with you are taken from lectures that I have noted down during class and some are my personal thoughts. so let's start.
Whenever the word communication comes to our mind, at the same time it comes to our mind that it is a name for conversation or exchange of ideas or information between two people. But communication is done not only between two people but also with yourself.
We have often listened to the word self-communication. which may include self-talk, or recalling memories.
The power of self-communion is a unique trait given to human beings by our supreme lord. Developing effective ways of communicating well with yourself is an imperative aspect of overall health and happiness.
The difference in intrapersonal communication amongst humans is how much one person has developed his or her self-communication skills in a way that is beneficial to his or herself.
MEDITATION:
This is the best way to communicate with yourself. Do it during the night when you go to bed for sleep and you have switched off all lights. Start recalling your whole day what you have done or what you are supposed to do. Count your good and bad about your day and make a plan for the next day that you will not do these mistakes again that you have done today. take a deep breath and let all negative thoughts come out of your mind. it's really soothing and relaxing I do it personally. so, I will recommend it to all of you.
SMALL CHANGES IN DAILY HABITS CAN BE BENEFICIAL FOR US:
Morning ritual. Maybe you like to go for a run. Or, maybe you like to meditate or enjoy a healthy breakfast. Whatever it is that makes you feel supercharged, kick start your day with that habit.
Develop reading habit: Reading books is a great way to gain knowledge and stimulate creativity. Immersion reading also improves focus and has a calming effect similar to meditation. Moreover, reading before bedtime can help you sleep better.
· Invest in self-care. Taking some time off to unwind can do wonders for your mood, mental health, and self-esteem. Do at least one thing every day that makes you feel good. Listen to music, learn a new skill, take a long bubble bath, or prepare a nice meal. Whatever floats your boat!
POSITIVE THINKING CAN BE HELPFUL:
In positive psychology research, gratitude is strongly and consistently associated with greater happiness. Gratitude helps people feel more positive emotions, relish good experiences, improve their health, deal with adversity, and build strong relationships.
MENTAL HEALTH AND PHYSICAL HEALTH BOTH NEEDS CARE:
usually, we used to take care of our physical health. We used to go to the gym and go for walks we take healthy food to maintain our physical health or let me say to maintain our figure. But we always ignore our mental health you know our physical health is actually determined by our mental health. We should focus on our mental health as well. Let me tell you some mind-damaging habits by avoiding these habits you can improve your mental health. Let me tell you I actually wanted to write a separate article on mind damaging habits.
· No breakfast
· Mobiles addiction
· Covering head while sleeping
· Reading something while you are traveling in any vehicle
· Sleep deprivation
· Noise pollution
PRACTICING GRATITUDE:
Gratitude is merely being thankful to Allah for everything. Secondly, gratitude is something that we should always be thankful full for what we are blessed with. If we daily communicate with ourselves and count our blessings and practice gratitude to whom blessed us with everything make positive changes in one’s self.
The benefits of a gratitude practice
· Improve sleep quality.
· Improve emotional regulation.
· Increase feelings of happiness and positive mood.
· Reduce stress, burnout, and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
· Increase resilience.
COMPARISON WITH OTHERS:
When we compare ourselves to others, we're often comparing their best features against our average ones. It's like being right-handed and trying to play an instrument with your left hand. Not only do we naturally want to be better than them, the unconscious realization that we do not often become self-destructive.
Sometimes we compare our progress, personally and professionally, to others, and feel awful. We start beating ourselves up, judging our weaknesses, and start feeling bad about ourselves. Comparing ourselves to our friends and rivals can affect our self-concept and self-esteem.
We all are the best. Allah has blessed every person with some skill or talent maybe if one person is best in writing the other one must be in playing some game so stop comparing yourself to others because you have your own unique quality.
Closing thoughts: we listen to a phrase to be the best version of ourselves. to become the best version of ourselves I think self-communication is the best way . so start to communicate with yourself on a daily basis and note changes that this skill will bring to your life.
have a good time with yourself.
