Man is distinguished from other beings by intelligence, good communication and thus cooperation, and this has helped in his quest for peace and conflict resolution clearly.

When we read in the pages of history, we find that the history of human conflicts is very large, until borders were established between states in the last century, and once these borders were established, and every country around the world knows its identity well. Peace began to prevail among the people around a large percentage. I am often amazed when I read about the ugliness of the conflicts that humankind experienced due to the desire of many rulers to control other lands and expand kingdoms. There is no denying that there are many of these kingdoms that sought to expand and did well to the inhabitants of the lands they controlled. At the same time, however, many residents of these countries felt a deep grief that later turned into a conflict. Wars took place again.

When comparing the people of the twenty-first century to the humans before him, we find that he is the luckiest of them, as he lived in a century in which the great kingdoms were separated and his original identity became more clear. I know very well that people of every age believe that this is their age, and that they are lucky to have been born during it. This is normal. I cannot deny that it is possible that the sons of the ages to come will be better than us on the ground. But I compare the state of peace between the people of the twenty-first century and the people of previous centuries who lived in long conflicts and fights with swords and various weapons.

Are humans peaceful beings?

Many of us have the impression that conflicts are widespread in human society, but when we compare our society with other societies, we find that the most peaceful of them is the person who is distinguished by his mind. Many thinkers like Stephen Pinker have tried to consolidate peace in the souls of people. Not only is Pinker, but many scientists have striven to prove that human societies are more peaceful than other beings. Humans are able to resolve conflicts peacefully, as they are distinguished by reason. In addition to their ability to cooperate and have a lot of positive emotions, such as: altruism and sympathy. They are also able to develop life and facilitate their ways of living with their mental capacities higher than any other being.

Scientists have researched what makes humans the most peaceful beings and that they are different from other beings, and what makes them make progress in this regard, and prefers to seek reconciliation and search for peace rather than wars and conflicts. This, in turn, will help achieve a more peaceful future away from conflicts.

Mechanisms that helped people reach the level of peace

Humans are really distinguished from other organisms - as I mentioned - as researchers have noticed the presence of several factors or mechanisms that helped calm him during his life journey from the time he inhabited the earth to the present day. Here are these mechanisms.

  • Intelligence, the ability to communicate and language: Many studies have told us about the communication of animals together, but when we look at the human condition, we find that he is the most complex living organism, whether in language or communication. Human languages are characterized by a multiplicity of their vocabulary and many meanings, and they need to focus while receiving speech and not be taken as it is, there are words that may be said with different meanings depending on the mood of the speaker, which gives them more complexity. Many studies have linked intelligence, communication, and language to the state of peace. As there is a relationship between the size of the brain and the size of the group, which explains the ability of human beings to uniqueness, the social relations between human beings helped them obtain knowledge thanks to the fruitful cooperation between them and thus they were able to build civilizations that other creatures could not establish, and all this thanks to advanced social communication, language and intelligence.

  • Competitive cooperation: Yes, cooperation and competition are two opposite words, but let's delve deeper into the matter and look at the fact that when human societies unite together against other groups, this competition helps them create cooperation. This cooperation is very fruitful, as it prompts people to come to terms with the perspective of others, empathize with them, and understand their motivations in their actions. Ultimately this helps our needs to be in balance with the needs of others. Thus, we can say that this cooperation between human beings made them in a state of harmony and thus they turned to peace to settle their differences.

  • Selection of the medium: There is a rule that says that cooperative groups are more successful than others, and their success is transmitted from one generation to another, and thus development occurs every period. This helped create harmony, leave conflicts aside, and focus on building a better life for future generations. This led to the emergence of a set of features that enhance their ability to learn together, develop social life and divide work, thus accomplishing the largest number of tasks.

  • Low testosterone: Paleontologists have noted that there is a significant decrease in testosterone in the human race, as high levels of this hormone are associated with violence and aggression. While this hormone decrease is associated with harmony and equality.

  • Tolerance with strangers: We humans are characterized by the ability to tolerate strangers. Human beings have been able to enhance confidence in strangers, as long as they are of the same human race, and thus our ability to live peacefully with others has increased. When we compare the condition of man with other beings, we will find that he is the most adapted to others. Thus he was able to reach peace.

As one of them said: The person of this century has turned into a gentle cat seeking peace and avoiding bloody conflicts. This is the most important characteristic of the people of this age, who abandoned spears, swords and other bloody weapons. But the most important question here is, has man really given up on conflicts as many philosophers and thinkers have published? Or did they miss the fact that we are in the era of technology and the tremendous scientific progress? That is, the Cold War. But does this affect the fact that humans are a peaceful being? In my humble view, no, wars or conflicts that pursue the personal ends of some should not be generalized to others.
