Good day People!
It's weekend again and some people are catching vibes while others are catching work.🥳

What I have here today is on a particular issue that trended on social media some few days ago.
Look at the the situation;
A mechanic received a sum of 10 million Naira (about $13,000) that was mistakingly transfered to him by a man. Out of his integrity, he returned the money to the bank and the owner of the money was contacted. The owner became extremely happy on the mechanic's integrity, he thanked him and gave him the sum of 50 thousand naira (around $66) out of the money.
Look at the oppinions of people;
The mechanic is a fool
A lot of people took it personal and termed the mechanic as a fool for returning such amount of money...in this harsh economy. They said the money is a blessing in disguise to the mechanic's life but he foolishly pushed the blessing away, and look at what he got at the end, a "thank you" and just N50,000.
No doubt, due to the current economic situation of the some part of the world and also, some such cases that have happened before, where a person returned a "lost but found money" and at the end, the returner gets queried or castigated...(as the case may be), this has polluted the minds of many as well.
If you were the one, would have returned the money? Okay not full but half?🌚
Just N50,000 out of N10,000,000?
Checking the calculation, N50,000 out of N10,000,000 is a whole too small. This is what people are furious at, they said the owner could have made it at least N2000,000, but N50,000 is a hell No!
At this point, a lot of people supported the idea of the man giving out atleast N200,000 as a "thank you" to the mechanic, but some other people were strongly against the idea.
Look at this;
Do we now mean that people should be paid for any good they do? If it's done like that, that means it's no longer a "good" but a mere service to get something in return.
Listening to radio station yesterday, a lady described her experience as regards to this entitlement mentality of the people when we return a "lost but found" item.
She narrated her experience and it goes like this;
On her way going to work, her identity card fell off from her bag without her knowing. She got to office before she knew that she had lost her ID. Then, within a short period, a young man walked in to her workplace to give her the ID card. She thanked the guy so much and wanted to give the guy a little token of money for appreciation but she wasn't having any cash with her. So she just stopped with "thank you so much".
Just about for the lady to to back to her office, the guy stopped her and asked, "you're not giving me anything?".
The lady was dumbfounded, she had to borrow money from her colleagues to give the guy.

Well, I don't want to pick who's right or wrong, just judge the case as it pleases you, especially with the kind of environment you live in your world.
Thanks for reading.
Sometimes doing the right thing and being kind does not mean we are waiting for something in return. :) The mechanic isn't a fool for returning the money, and it's also great that the man gave enough prize for his honesty. I think there's nothing wrong about how much he gave, as long as the honesty and kindness of the mechanis was genuine.
