The Necessity of compulsory ICT Education in Bangladesh
Ict stands for "Information and communication technology." It refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications. It is defined as a diverse set of technological tools and resources used to communicate,and to create, disseminate,store,and manage information. At present it has created a "global village, " in which people can communicate with others across the world as if they were living next door. For this reason, ict is often studied in the context of how modern communication technologies affect society.
In the 21st century, information communication technology (ICT) is one of the latest techniques around the world including Bangladesh to use in the field of education. In Bangladesh information and communication technology has been introduced as a compulsory subject at the junior secondary, secondary and higher secondary level. In line with the education policy 2010,the government introduced ICT for class six students in 2012,for class seven in 2013,for class eight in 2014 and for class nine in 2015. For the students of class eleven and twelve, ICT subject was introduced in 2013. Students would now be studying the ICT as a compulsory subject in addition to bangla and English. The subject gives the students primary ideas about computer and its related devices internet, mobile and their usages,which builds a Foundation for further ICT studies.
21st century is completely technology driven since the people around the world do not think their life without technology. Those who have the technology they are developed and control the whole world so far. That is why, compulsory ICT education has no alternative. We hope,it will pave the way to producing the skilled,efficient and trained manpower. No doubt,it will be helpful for the students to cope with the challenges of the 21st century.
