All I want for Christmas.
While I was growing up my father used to make me write a long list of what I wanted for Christmas. To me, that is my opportunity to write everything that comes to mind even when he always ends up doing one or two things from the list. I will joyfully and gladly write a long list of things I want every single Christmas. Right now, I am no longer that little sweet girl of the house therefore he has stopped asking me to make a list for my Christmas. I don’t know if I am to feel happy about it or otherwise. The truth is that a part of me sometimes wants to feel the joy of writing a long list even when I will not get a quarter of what I have written. Just yesterday, I was watching the television when my older brother walked into the leaving room and made a joke saying;
You no go write list for daddy? (Pigeon English).
I looked at him and we both started laughing so hard and loud. We were laughing because he understood how exciting writing the list makes me feel at all times. After laughing about the whole thing, I looked at him and said;
You know that I am now a big girl…
When I made this statement, something struck me in my mind and I began to wonder. What if I am asked to make a list now, what will I write? At this point, I began to examine myself to make a little mental note of a list of what I would want for Christmas. As I was thinking all this in my mind, something told me to get my pen and paper in other to write it down. Mind you, when I was still very young my list will always look very full but funny because each time my father looks at it, he will ease off a burst of laughter which shows that what I wrote was funny. Now, for you to understand what I am talking about let me show what my list usually looks like when I was still young.
My list as a baby
· The first thing is always balloons. When I was younger, I just can’t do without having balloons in and around the house and I will always keep some on my bed while sleeping. There was a scenario something funny happened. As usually I left some balloons on my bed and slept off. Unknown to me, I was already lying on the balloon and as I tried to turn around while sleeping the balloon busted very loudly that my parents rushed to my room. To their greatest shock, I was still very much asleep as if nothing happened. It was later in the morning that my mom asked me if I left balloons on my bed while sleeping. That night must have been crazy for then and my older brothers because I was seriously warned never to leave balloons on the bed while sleeping.
· The second thing I always write on my list is my Christmas complete attire which consists of a Cinderella gown, shoes with lights by the sides, socks to match the colour of my gown, ribbons for my hair and a baby doll. I only got this once or twice and I never got it again to date.
· My list will always have space for bangers although it is not for my use rather my older brothers will ask me to sneak it in my list just to make sure that my father will buy for them. They never got it even for once. I believe my father knew that I would never ask for such a thing.
· I will ask for a trip to see Santa Claus. This is one of the things I usually get from my dad.
· I will ask for candies and biscuits.
· Play toys especially baby dolls.
· To visit the village in other to see grandma.
I am completely not able to remember most things because it has been a long since I wrote such a list.
Now, let us look at the list I would write if I am given the opportunity. The truth is that my list may not be very long at this age because I will choose the most important things first. Let us look at the list…
My Christmas list now
· Money, this will certainly be the first on the list because I need money to do a lot of things for myself. Please don’t say that I love money too much, I just love to take care of myself.
· One thing I will not miss for anything is Family Time. I will give anything to have a wonderful family time with all my siblings but that won’t be possible for now.
· Good health, this is the only thing I will never joke with again when it comes to the Christmas season. I remembered the last time I fell sick during Christmas. I could see myself crying so bitterly not because I was sick but it was because I was not able to eat as much as I wanted. Don’t ever joke about good health especially during the festive period.
· Gods Protection. I would not underrate protection when it comes to travelling and running around during the festive period. I remembered one incident an entire family died in a road accident as they were travelling to their home town. I can’t over emphasis the need for everyone to always pray for protection during the festive seasons.
· Last but not least are going to be funny because a lot of you will see me as a child. Well, you can call anything but the truth remains that I would give anything to feel the Christmas SNOW in my palms. It’s funny, right? I have never seen or felt what the snow is therefore, I will give anything except my life to witness the winter season overseas. I know that a day will come when I will travel overseas during the winter just to feel the snow and have a feel of what Christmas is for the westerners.
Ok, let me stop this list here just not to bore you so much. I will love to see your list if you have been written it already or you are planning to write it later. Let be this our little bound in here. I have to go now because JustLuvMe is ready to see and read your response in the comment section. Love you all…
Moat important thing is good health Because without it we can't celebrate Christmas and definitely be around my family and loved ones. Nice to meet you
