Spoke deeply about the atrocity of 20.10.20
Lekki massacre #Endsars #Endpolicebrutality
On the 20th day of October 2020 exactly one year from today the a lot of Nigerian youth lost their lives at the lekki tollgate protest. What started as a peaceful protest for our rights ended up in blood shed and tears for so many Nigerian people.
What caused the protest ?
Apart from the fact that the Nigerian people suffer from bad governance, oppression, bad infrastructure, terrorism and so many more The main purpose of the protest was to speak out and let our voice be heard against the brutality of the police and the Special Anti-robbery squad (SARZ). Even though the protest gained prominence in 2017 it became more heated in 2019 and 2020 due to the fact that the Nigerian youth said enough is enough and also with the help of world famous celerities like wizkid, Davido , Beyoncé, lil baby and many more who tweeted about it, the fight against police brutality in Nigeria had started years back even before we were born. All we wanted was a total disbandment of these operatives instead our government lied to us about the disbandment for several years and when they saw that we were finally seeing through their walls of lies and deceit they started to shed innocent blood just to shut us up.
They were angry because the spark from the protest from months and days before the unfortunate date made us courageous, and as a result we wanted more we were not just tired of police killings, bad governance, corruption, terrorism, lack of food, bad economy, Bad infrastructure, oppression and so many more we wanted a total reform of our government little did we know that they had a plan, a wicked plan, an evil plan to silence the voice of so many young Nigerians so as to put us in fear.
First they came and installed all the CCTV cameras around the the area where the massacre took place and when it was time for them to start their evil plans they switched off the lights. Hundreds of young Nigerian youth ran for their lives in fear as bullets were fired at them and for what ? To shut them up ? Is it a crime to ask for what is rightfully ours ? Why must the same set do people meant to protect me be killing me. It doesn’t even make sense to me. It is just sad.
I can’t even write these words without a shaking my head in disbelief, such atrocity was committed against us a year ago today and when the world asked what happens they lied and tried to cover it up. I ask my self everyday till this day how about the families of those that lost their lives on the protest ground, those that lost parts their body due to gun wounds, how about the trauma ? I struggle to hold back tears as I write these words.
We will never forget
It seem like just yesterday the fear and sadness I felt on that day still resonates around my body even as write these word. Isn’t it ironic ? People were killed because they were protesting for the police to stop killing those that were killed in the past. 😞 Well all I know it that we would never forget and there is no way the government would be able to justify this action.
Can you believe that even till today the culprits who engaged in this abomination are yet to be brought forward .They have lied and said they didn’t know who gave the order for the shootings but we will never forget. They might have stopped the movement for now but we will rise again justice must prevail. We will never let this go and May the souls of those who fell as a result of this event rest in perfect peace.🕯
soro so ke !!!!!!! Soro so ke werey !!!!!!!!
I want to leave you with a song that was composed by a Nigerian artist titled 20.10.20 that talked about the events of this date as you listen I hope you understand what has happened and why we are so saddened by it .
Thank you and God bless you for reading.❤️😞
They will continue to try and cover it up, but the truth will out some day
