Who doesn’t love The Beatles!
I have posted in noise.cash about my night in September 18. After I got home from my mom’s 80th birthday celebration, I was able to catch up with my friend’s 50th birthday celebration. Since it was her golden years, we agreed to wear something yellow or gold.
She hired a singer to do a solo concert for the night and to serenade us with songs of our choice. It was quite a fun night. The singer sang some Beatles songs and he told us he just saw a movie in Netflix entitled Yesterday.
I was really interested to watch this movie and this is exactly what I just did on Sunday afternoon. I was bingeing on the Beatles songs.
THE STORY
The story is about a struggling singer, Jack, who works in a store if he has no gig. He is fond of singing the songs of The Beatles. He was about to give up singing as sometimes his gig has no audiences or only children were present. But his manager and childhood friend talks him out of it and encourages him to pursue his dreams.
One night, on his way home from a gig, a global blackout erases The Beatles from the memory of all the people around the world except for Jack. He was hit by a bus during this blackout. This might be the reason why he alone can remember about the Beatles. He even searched The Beatles on the internet but not a word about them can be found on the net.
He continued to sing the songs of The Beatles, reintroducing them to the world. A local music producer heard him in one of his gigs in a café and offered to record his songs in a small warehouse. He became well-known until Ed Sheeran saw him singing in the television and invited Jack to be his first act in one of this concert. This leads to Jack’s being famous worldwide.
Jack continued to sing the songs of The Beatles and became more popular than Ed Sheeran but he was not happy about it, when two people approached him and told him that they know about The Beatles and that they were grateful that Jack sang their songs. They both feared that the songs of The Beatles were gone forever. These two did some digging and was able to get the address of John Lennon whom Jack visited.
John Lennon advised him to pursue what he loves and to always be truthful.
The movie ends with Jack confessing to a large crowd where Ed Sheeran have his concert. He asked Ed for a favour to be part of his concert and there he revealed about who were the real owners of the song he supposedly wrote and sang. He also confesses about his love for his childhood friend and manager.
And they live happily ever after.

Well, it would be better if you, yourself, watch the movie or maybe you have watched it already? If you did, what was your reaction to the movie?
It was a simple but feel good movie for me. But if the story becomes real, would you be sad if The Beatles songs will be gone forever? I would, I really would. Though The Beatles became famous during my father’s time, that’s in the early 60’s, but I kept hearing their songs while growing up and fell in love with them.
Thank you for reminiscing The Beatles with me. Let’s keep their music alive.
