Fame is All About Appearances

Happy Weekend, my dear read cash buddies! What is up everyone? I hope you are all doing fine. It’s Saturday and one more day until we face Monday again. Time’s running so fast, isn’t it? LOL.

Let me ask you something. What does "fame" mean to you?

Are you one of those famous social media users who gain thousands of likes on every photo you post on any social media platform? Or you may not be famous on social media, but you’re known in your school or community that every single person in your school or community knows you. How does it feel to be known by everyone? What are you known for?

Haven’t you noticed, or I guess we all noticed it even a long time ago, that only good-looking ones are more appreciated compared to an average-looking one? The good-looking ones are mostly the ones being prioritized. In fact, even the most talented ones were sometimes ignored because they were not that good-looking and were not fit for their standards.

Most things that set standards so high are in the showbiz industry. The more talented ones are ignored, or maybe they’re not, but their screen time wouldn’t last long. They may be well known for a few days, but then their popularity will suddenly puff up like a bubble.

I’m not discriminating against other artists or people in the showbiz industry, but we can definitely tell that most good-looking ones aren’t really talented. Some even released an album, but all the songs are not even that bop and the voice is in auto-tune. But still, there were people who would listen to it and support their favourite artist because it was popular. Even if they can tell that it really isn't that good, they would still be willing to listen to it and buy the album.

Isn’t it unfair for those talented people who didn’t get the chance to show off their true talent because they couldn’t reach the beauty standards set by society? It is sad to think that real talents remain hidden because of insecurities.

And because of the beauty standards set by society, there are more people who feel insecure and conscious about themselves, especially their physical appearance.

I have seen lots of candid photos of good-looking strangers that went viral. Most of them were being captured doing their job, such as selling, etc. They became popular because of their looks. That means there were lots of people who loved and admired their beauty. A lot of agencies would hire them to promote and become a model for their brand.

There's nothing wrong with being born naturally attractive; in fact, it's an asset that can help you achieve your goals. By being beautiful, there were lots of opportunities that awaited you.

But why is it that it’s always the good-looking people that are being praised and appreciated? Why does it always have to be like that? Why are societies like that? Why can’t everything be equal? Why do we have to set boundaries regarding how we look? Honestly, we are all beautiful in our own ways. We are not ugly. We just have to embrace and accept who we are because that’s what determines us on being who we truly are.

You’re beautiful, it’s true.

I am very much agree ate.

Beauty is debatable. I think everyone is beautiful in their own way. But in my country, some beauty is valued in showbiz industry, which I would not call beauty, and unfortunately, talent and good values are less and less valued.

Ifs the reality of this life which opportunities are given to those good looking and left those average in grabbing small opportunities. It's rampant in modeling, showbiz and even entertainment. You can only see average looking people performing as comedian since you have long career if you enter as comedian. It's already the stereotype and we can't change it since people already adapt it.

I agree from this Langga. There is not equality for all humans. The one good looking has given a lot of opportunities. They based mostly on the physical appearance. I hope everything will treat us fair.

I have a story with this Langga. Mostly good looking people easily given a chance even sometimes it's too much.

It is a pity that we prefer others over natural forms. Although we are made by one Lord. Our society is promoting people who have no skills other than beauty. And the skilled person is unemployed. No man in the world is ugly because he is the invention of a great artist. I appreciate your thoughts because I think like you. By the way, we are already friends on noise.

Being very attractive and beautiful can be so boring and uncomfortable, with way you will be the center of attraction in public spaces like school and work, especially school, you get to attract so many bullies and boring people.

This is a sad reality. Many people became concious and insecured about their looks because of the beauty standard that the society built that in order for us to look beautiful and to attract people, we should have a pointed nose, long legs, sexy body, nice eyes and more. It's just so sad to think that we need to pass on that standard first in order to be called beautiful.

I also ask the same. I was somehow known in our campus back then because of how I look, but sometimes I wanted to be appreciated and liked with who I really am. Yung personality wise ba. Ayoko yung nagugustuhan ako agad by the way I look kaya when I had my socials, I rarely post a picture of myself na kasi I want to be known ng hindi lang sa physical appearance ko.
