Sarma is a traditional Greek, Serbian and Turkish dish, very popular in the Balkans, which is mainly made from sauerkraut, minced meat and rice by wrapping the meat and rice in one cabbage leaf. In some parts of Serbia and Greece, sarma is wrapped in grape leaves and the filling is made from rice fried in onions. This is how sarma is prepared during fasting. Sarma is often eaten at Serbian festivals and festivities.

It is also known in the Caucasus, under the name "dolma."
