City Life
City Life
Modern civilization has undergone considerable urbanization. As a result, tranquil country life has given way to busy and complicated city life. A small number of our people live in cities. Still cities occupy a very important position in the socio-economic and political life of Bangladesh.
City life, however, has its own advantages and limitations as well. Firstly, in towns we have colleges and schools for higher education; cinema halls for amusement; doctors, nurses and hospitals are also available in town. Secondly, there is a good facility for trade, commerce and industry in town.
Thirdly, most of the people have durable sources of earning. So the standard of living of the town people is higher than that of the people living in villages.
Fourthly, city dwellers enjoy the benefits of modern communication system. They can get all the advanced facilities of information technology easily. But town is not free from some drawbacks. Life in town is complex and difficult. It makes people more or less selfish. People in town are always busy with their own affairs and have no time to turn.
Accidents occur there every now and then. Cheats and pickpockets also abound in town. Air pollution and sound pollution severely affect the city dwellers. In spite of its limitations, city life appears to be attractive to the people and so its dwellers are increasing everyday.
