Typhoon Odette! 4 minutes before landfall, bracing ourselves on the impact but… Oh Lord! We are on the 18th floor and the building is tremendously swaying!!! It feels like youre on board a ship with not so good weather.
And we are here! Non-stop swaying and hauling of the winds. The glasses are like, closing in and out, feeling the pressure of the winds outside. While the building is not just swaying but trembling tremendously with a little feel of earthquake as the wind hauls outside our doors. The glasses feel like it about to break and the rain seems to feel like its coming inside the office. The never ending push and pull of the chair, feels like youre riding a car and immediately hit the brakes. And again, the glass windows feel like they’re about to peel off or break. Though its not the longest 11 minutes but somebody already break out and cried with anxiety attack. 22 minutes had passed the wind got worst. Well, still not the longest 1 hr ever but the wind got worst as it approaches 10pm. There is one room that’s almost ready to be ripped apart, labeled it the most dangerous room to hang out. 1021PM, the wind calms. Management provides food and snack since going out for a break will be detrimental to health and it arrived late due to the circumstances we are in. Well, GM declared suspension of work at around 1:30AM so we all went home.
Well, we think we were safe not leaving the office but we finally realized that it wasn’t safe anywhere at all. Everything is mixed up. I left my children at home because I have faith they are all good and true to the faith, they were all asleep the whole time after the losing the signal. Bring the food home because we were already leaving the office by the time the food arrived. The devastation? Will be uploading the pictures from my phone and mobile signal is still not on, total blackout in the city and it will be restored in about a week to a month. Well, my boys were hopeful to regain it in 5 days as initially heard earlier but as the day gone by, the devastation on our city has magnified and now considering the 30 days no electricity.
Hmmm, it is in the 90’s our city had experienced this, a month long without electricity because of typhoon. The same, strong winds with heavy rainfalls. After the storm? Oh! Some reported to work while others are either exhausted in clearing the area within their vicinity, not helping clearing the area for community services or stranded due to debris on the road. I mean, no one can afford to extend community services at this point because everyone else, every home is affected! Oh! The almost everyone’s roof flew or partly, and if not, their ceiling were heavily damaged. Shuttle services are almost not available because same reason, drivers are not available. Stranded either because the post/trees blocks the road or tires were damaged to nails laying the road, my boss was one of those affected that day when he hurriedly went home and his tires were just… a nail got caught on the tires, barely made it back to the building to park the car since his spare tires too were not available too!
We don’t have a lot of issues, but main concerns are water and power, communication thru mobile are off either because no signal or low batteries, so power is really important. Food is just there. City is operational and functional until the return of power services, all else is busy clearing the area and making sure all wires and posts, -related items are in place before power can be restored. Well, we don’t want to invite a lot of misfortunes while Christmas is fast approaching. Hmmm, looking for news on the internet, its almost silenced. Keep safe and God bless. Will keep this posted.
