Things We Have In Common

When I became an elder sister, I was still confused as to how a big sister should behave. I was 6 years old at that time and everything went different the moment my sister came. I was no longer the center of attention and my parents were busier than usual. **I was a bad sister** When I reached the puberty stage, I must say that I was a bad sister to her. I don't know, I just hated her for no valid reason. I was in the peak of my b*tch mode. There was one time, I remembered there was a power outage in our area. It was around 6 in the evening. I encouraged her to play with me for a pillow fight. I do not have anything offensive in mind or purpose. The play was fun at first but I became too aggressive and hit her on her face almost knocking her down. She cried when I hit her on her face, she wanted to take her revenge but I was too big as her competitor. I ran towards the room and close the door. She kept banging against the door crying with frustrations and I was there laughing the entire moment. Mom learned about the play-turned-to-fight and scolded me. I admit I was a harsh sister to her. You wouldn't expect us to be so sweet and friends the whole time. I just like to tease her. However, as I mature, I learned to adjust and to be more understanding to my little sister. I should be responsible and should take care of her in the absence of our mother. That's when we realized that we have so many things in common: Book genres When I was in college, I learned to love books. Most especially in our literature subject. Our professor encouraged us to read books that would create a big impact on our perspectives in life. However, I realized that I don't prefer to read those writing styles that are poetic. Aside from its order, it's harder for me to understand. No doubt, we share the same sentiments about it. We both love to read teenage fiction, supernatural, and psychological books. We both read these books: *Turtles All The Way Down by John Green* *The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini* *To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee* *Brida by Paulo Coelho* We have read all of these books and whenever one gets ahead of reading it, we make sure that we don't spoil each other. We surely created a great bond for this hobby. **Food preferences** My sister is not someone who gets excited about a food trip. She's just a light eater. She only eats as to how her brain tells her to continue or not. Even when she's having her PMS (Pre-menstrual syndrome) she doesn't have cravings so when I ask her what she wants to eat she will just shrug. She only eats what's available and doesn't really crave something. However, we do share something similar in food preference. We both love to eat Jollibee spaghetti. I mean, who wouldn't right? Their spaghetti is classic and this serves as our comfort food all the time. I crave Jollibee spaghetti mostly during my PMS times. Whenever I crave it, that's when she feels excited because she gets her chance of eating it too for free. **Movie genres** Back in college, that's when I learned to use the flash drive. I learned to copy movies from my classmates and watch them with my sister on my laptop. We both love to watch Kdrama or American series particularly the crime/thriller ones. We want to engage ourselves in the series and determine who's the real killer. This was also when I started to write articles about "Mark of A Killer" which I truly enjoyed sharing here. Aside from the crime/thriller genres, we both like to watch Romance Comedy film. The top of our list is Just Go With It. Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler's tandem is superb. You laugh and fall in love at the same time. **Music Taste** Back in the mid-2000s, Colbie Caillat, Taylor Swift, David Archuleta, The Script, Coldplay, Maroon 5 are among those we are die-hard fans too. We both have similarities in music taste especially if these tracks play in our sound system. Dog **lovers** The family never had a pet dog ever since I was born. When we moved into our own house, some cats visit to ask for food. Our father befriends them and treats them as our own pets since then. So we were cat persons at first. When I got the job in Davao, someone gave me a puppy. I named him Yuki. He was half Shih-Tzu and Japanese Spitz. However, Yuki left us after 3 months. He left because of a distemper. We were so heartbroken after. The moving on process came a long way but after a year, we had Sunny. She gives sunshine to the house. She's the life of the party. I have shared similarities of us about the things we like or share in common. However, we do also have: **Pet** peeves I and my sister grew up introverted although she's lesser than I am. Whenever we go outside to buy groceries and stuff, one thing we don't like is those people who start a conversation with us out of the blue. It seems to us that they don't value or respect privacy. Those guys who casually open up and ask your digits. That's a no-no for us. Pervs. I just joined @JonicaBradley 's prompt series for this week using the word **“Similarities.”** I want to encourage my friends here in the platform to write yours too: @bheng620 @sc @ellimacandrea @illustrious @charmingcherry08 Here are your guidelines in joining: Write an original article about the prompt: **Similarities** ✓ At least 600 words. ✓ The topic must be your original content. ✓ Don't forget to tag @JonicaBradley ***The lead image is me holding my little sister with mom looking after us.*** Thanks for reading.
