Do You Really Know What You Really Want?
If someone asks you, "what do you really want to do in your life?"
Back in the days when we were younger, we were asked what do we want to become. This basically entails our desires in life but as children, we don't have an idea how difficult we have to go through achieving those goals.
As for me, when I was in kindergarten, I wanted to become a Pilot. I had no idea why I stated it in our yearbook. There was a time when I wanted to become an Engineer but upon learning how difficult Mathematics is, I changed my mind.
As I age, I have learned that setting and achieving goals do not happen overnight. We have to acknowledge that there is a process that we have to go through, and from that journey, we become the person that we are once we achieve our aspirations.
When asked, what I really want in my life, I just said "to be financially free, to sustain the needs of my family" as any ordinary person would answer. I mean, who wouldn't want to sustain the needs of their family in the first place? Financial stability? Success?
But here's the thing, we need to set specific goals to achieve what we envision ourselves in the future. We need these to drive us closer to the general goal.
Acknowledge that success doesn't happen overnight.
As mentioned earlier, there is always a process to everything. If you want to become rich, you should work hard for it. Unless you are born sitting on a pot of gold. Even winning in the lottery takes time and investment.
We have to encounter obstacles along the way because these challenges are meant for us to be better and be wiser when the time comes. Recognize that there is always good in bad. Focus on your mindset's growth.
Practice gratitude.
It is important to develop a grateful heart. Once you have embodied a grateful heart, your mind becomes open to situations where you learn to accept limitations.
There are moments in our lives when we did everything that we could but nothing seems to work. How do we practice gratitude through that? It is by accepting that things don't always go according to our plans. Uncertainties happen, it is out of our control. It is to measure how far can we go for challenges.
Maximize every opportunity that comes along.
When one door closes, one opens. If you fail to this challenge, there will be more of them and so we need to maximize every opportunity that comes along. We should strategize an effective system so we won't be making the same mistake again.
As they say, "version 2.0, bigger, bolder, and brighter". We should learn from our mistakes, make sure that we don't have to step into that same trap. We should strengthen our decision-making skills to help us encounter a bigger chance of losing again.
The art of failure is that you've been there in that situation before but you are no longer the same person who will face that monster again because you have prepared yourself and you've got weapons to defeat it.
Start good habits, eliminate bad habits.
When you want to achieve something, you have to evaluate yourself about strengths and weaknesses so you'll know how big of an adjustment it would be for you in the near future.
That being said, we should also eliminate bad habits and start good ones because these poor habits will serve you no good. It will keep you from being stagnant and you wouldn't want that as a successful human being.
These four are helpful and specific goals that we need to practice first so we can achieve our main goal. Success is subjective. My definition of success may not be yours and yours may not be mine. It depends on how the person defines themselves.
But one thing is for sure, the specific tips or goals that I have listed above are beneficial towards achieving the bigger picture.
Thanks for reading.
Keep safe everyone!
