Some people are confused about whether succulent and cactus are the same or what is the difference between them. I, myself were confused back when I was just starting to plant cactus. I thought Everything was cactus and if they're cute and no thorns, I called them succulents. LOL. But when I started to learn more about them, I was starting to differentiate the two. Or identify, if that word is more correct.

In the simplest definition, succulents are plants that store water in them for dehydration. And Cactus is a succulent that has areoles that grow pricks and usually has thick skin. Only cactus have areoles so if you see a succulent without areoles even though it has thorns of some sort, it is not a cactus. on the other hand, not all cactus have thorns, some have briskly hair but all have areoles. All Cactus are succulents. So basically, Cactus is a subcategory of Succulent.

Taking care of your cactus and succulents are the same. They like bright sunlight but don't put it in direct sunlight for many hours. If you plan to put a succulent in your home, consider putting it beside the window where it can enjoy the beauty of sunlight.
