Good morning everyone, my topics for today is how to drive safe on the street.

A car is more than a means of transportation. Its your link to independence, friends, social events and so much more.

An Increase in Accidents

According the book I read, drivers ages 16 to 19 have highest accident rate. But drivers age 65 and older rank second. Sixty-five year olds have an accident rate of only five per 100 million vehicle miles driven, but the rate rises to 40 by age 85.

Evaluate Your Skills

Everytime you get behind the wheel, your safety and that of others is at stake. There are Quiz for driving can be Questioned and this are;

  1. Does driving make you feel nervous or physically exhausted?

  2. Do you have difficulty seeing pedestrian, signs and vehicles?

  3. Do cars frequently seem to appear from nowhere?

  4. At night, does the glare from oncoming headlights temporary blind you?

  5. Do you find intersection confusing?

  6. Are you finding it harder to judge the distance between cars?

  7. Do you have difficulty coordinating your hand and foot movements?

  8. Are you slower than you used to be in reacting to dangerous situations?

  9. Do you sometimes get lost in familiar neighborhood?

  10. Do other drivers often honk at you?

  11. Have you had an increased number of traffic violations, accidents or near-accidents in the past year?

If you answer YES to most of the Questions, it may be time to consider letting someone else do your driving for you.

To Reduce your accidents risk;

  • Stay off roads where the pace of traffic is more demanding than you can handle.

  • Avoid driving at night and in bad weather.

  • Plan your route beforehand so you can concentrate on driving, not navigating. Have a passenger help with navigating when possible.

  • Avoid driving on long trips you find exhausting or confusing.

  • Allow plenty of room between your car and the one in front of you so you can react to changing traffic.

  • Check your mirrors often for traffic behind and alongside of you, instead of only looking ahead.

  • Glance over your shoulder to check traffic when changing lanes.

  • Have a loud clicker installed if your turn signal is hard to hear.

  • Remember that medications such as antihypertensive, as well as sleep aids taken so long as one or two days before, can effect your alertness.

  • Consider a behind-the-wheel tuneup. Some organization may be offering.defensive driving courses.

Thank you for reading my post and drive safety.
