Patriotism means to love one's own country. It is a noble virtue. Every man loves his motherland. It is one of the greatest virtues that a man has. A Muslim regards it as part of his faith or religion. A man who has no patriotic feelings is a brute.

There are many glowing examples of patriotism all over the world including Bangladesh. For instance we can mention our Language Movement and Independent War. In the Language Movement many people died to save the mother tongue. Besides in the Independent War about thirty lac of her people sacrificed their lives to make a country named Bangladesh. All of them were patriotic. This is the true sense of patriotism. However, now especially in our country true patriotism is rare. The patriotism is only in their words but not in works: But we can mention here the name of Sher - e - Bangla. Maolana Bhashani, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujeeb of Bangladesh, Washington in America, Lenin and Stalin of Russia are the true sign of patriotism. Lives of these great men remind us that we, too, can make our lives like them. Besides it is our great duty as a man to love our country. In the true sense we must have the patriotic feelings. Bangladesh is a poor country. We must have patriotism to our men so that we can make a poverty free and violence free society.
