XRP Fork and Spark Token Airdrop

On December 12 and that would be tomorrow, Flare Networks will be giving an airdrop Spark tokens to XRP holders. It is a new smart contract ecosystem made to bring an Ethereum-type functionality to the XRP Ledger. They call this airdrop as a first-of-its-kind utility fork.

What is Flare Network?

Flare is the world's first Turing complete Federation Byzantine Agreement(FBA) network. It means that, it is scalable, safe, and decentralized and can provide smart contracts to other cryptocurrencies.

What is Spark?

Spark is the native token of Flare Network. It will be distributed to XRP holders at 1:1 ratio. So if you have 100 XRP, you will get 100 Spark token.

How to get Spark token airdrop?

In order to get the Spark token, you must be an XRP holder using wallet or exchange supporting the fork.

Exchanges that support the airdrop such as Binance and Coinbase are apt to give Spark tokens to XRP holders at a later date.

How to claim the Spark token?

Exchanges supporting the fork will handle the process of claiming and the distribution. You just need to take some actions within the exchange website or app itself.

For those who self custody, there's a method of claiming the Spark token by setting up the Message Key field on your XRP Ledger address to your Flare address.

The Spark token can be claimed 6 months from the snapshot date.
