Do you know that eggs can help you lose weight?
Experts also say that a high protein diet helps lose weight which can be found in egg yolks. No wonder why people who undergo a keto diet are using egg as their main food. Consuming fats is not the real culprit in gaining weight, but adhering to a high-fat diet can help you maintain lower body weight.
But tired of eating plain egg recipes?
Here are some of my cooking recipes using egg as the main ingredient. These are not desserts. These are not sweets as well. I only use seasoning like chicken powder or salt to add flavors to these recipes.
Let's start.
Huevo Frito con Brรณcoli/Fried Eggs with Broccoli
Ingredients:
4 eggs
A small portion of broccoli, carrots, red bell pepper, and green spring onions
salt/chicken powder for seasonings
Cooking Methods:
Cut the carrots, bell pepper, broccoli, and spring onions into small sizes.
Beat the eggs and mix the vegetables into it.
Season it with chicken powder.
Heat a non-stick pan, put some oil, and pour all mixture into the pan.
Fry until it is well cooked.
Huevo del Siglo al Vapor/Steamed Century Eggs
Ingredients:
4 regular eggs
2 century eggs
salt/chicken powder for seasonings
Cooking Methods:
Crack the eggs and separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. Season both with salt or chicken powder.
Cut the century eggs into medium strips sizes. Layer them on a rectangular-shaped steaming dish.
Pour the egg whites onto it, then steam for five minutes.
After five minutes, pour the egg yolks then steam for another ten minutes, or until it is well cooked. (You can use a toothpick in checking if it is cook yet)
Tofu de Huevo Suave al Vapor/Steamed Soft Egg Tofu
Ingredients:
2 eggs
1 pack soft tofu
A small amount of pre-cooked black ear fungus
Some green spring onions
Salt/chicken powder for seasonings
For the sauce: water, oyster sauce, a pinch of sugar, and flour (to make it slurry)
Cooking Methods:
Smash the soft tofu and add the beaten eggs.
Add the diced black ear fungus, and season it with salt or chicken powder.
Transfer the mixture into a steaming dish.
Steam for 10-15 minutes.
For the sauce: just mix all sauce ingredients in a pan, and simmer until it becomes thick.
Then pour onto the steamed egg tofu, and sprinkle it with spring onions.
Huevo Esponjoso/Fluffy Egg
Ingredients:
3 eggs
salt for seasoning
Cooking Methods:
Beat the egg whites until it's foamy. (You can use an electric eggbeater for this, if not, just use a fork)
Beat the egg yolks, season with salt, and set aside.
On a non-stick pan, heat some oil or butter, then pour the egg yolks mixture.
After 1 to 1 ยฝ minute, pour the foamy egg whites, and cover the pan with a lid.
Switch the stove to low fire. Cook the egg for 5 minutes.
Cut it into two halves, and fold facing the egg whites portion. (Just like shown in the picture)
*(If you want this to become sweet, then use confectioner sugar instead of salt)
Magdalena de Huevo/Egg Cupcake
Ingredients:
2 eggs
A small portion of carrots, and green spring onions
1 cup of flour
salt and pepper or chicken powder for seasoning
Cooking Methods:
Beat the eggs, add the diced carrots, green spring onions, and some flour.
Season it with salt and pepper, or chicken powder.
Grease the cupcake molders with oil or butter, then pour the egg mixture.
Steam for 10 minutes.
*(I spread some mayonnaise on top before eating, just to add some flavor ๐)
Yema de Huevo Turbia/Cloudy Egg Yolk
Ingredients:
2 eggs, and salt to taste
Cooking Methods:
Separate the egg whites from egg yolks.
Beat the egg whites until it's foamy.
Heat a non-stick pan, then pour some oil.
Pour the foamy egg whites, cover the pan, and cook for 3 minutes over a low fire.
After 3 minutes, make two small holes, then place the egg yolks onto each hole.
Cover the pan again and cook for another 3 minutes.
If you want some sweet egg recipes, I have some for you. Easy to cook with just a few ingredients used.
Budรฌn de Huevo de Naranja/Orange Egg Pudding
If you don't want to transfer it, you can just eat it like this. ๐
Ingredients:
3 eggs
1 cup evaporated milk
ยผ cup condensed milk
ยผ cup orange juice
Cooking Methods:
Beat the eggs in, add evaporated and condensed milk.
Add some orange juice.
Sift and transfer the mixture into a steaming bowl. Cover with cling wrap.
Steam for 10-15 minutes.
After 10-15 minutes, let it cool down before transferring into a plate.
*(Add some fruits on top according to your preference. Adding orange juice into the mixture is only optional, you can cook this without the orange juice.)
*(You can add some sugar if you like. I don't want to much condensed milk, so I put some sugar on it.)
Pastel de Huevo sin Hornear/Non-baked Egg Pie
*You can refer to Youtube videos about cooking non-bake egg pie*
Ingredients:
4 eggs
ยฝ cup condensed milk
1 cul evaporated milk
2 cups flour
butter
For Pie Crust:
Mix the flour and butter, then knead it well.
Grease the steaming dish with butter or oil.
Flatten it on a steaming dish. (I used a round-shaped stainless dish)
Flatten the batter and poke holes using a fork.
For Egg Mixture:
Combine all wet ingredients: beaten eggs, condensed milk, and evaporated milk.
Sift the egg mixture to remove lumps.
Pour onto the crust, carefully stamp the dish to remove air holes.
Cooking Methods:
Preheat the pan for a few minutes. (No water)
Steam the egg pie over a med-low fire for 15-25 minutes, or until it's well cooked.
*(Let it cool down first before cutting. Some sprinkle baking soda or salt on the pan so it won't get burnt.)
Delicia de Huevo Dulce/Sweet Egg Delight
Ingredients:
4 eggs
ยฝ condensed milk
1 evaporated milk
2 tablespoons soft flour/cake flour
Cooking Methods:
Beat the eggs, add condensed and evaporated milk.
Sift the egg mixture to remove lumps.
Sift the flour and mix it with the egg mixture. Stir until they're combined well.
Transfer into a steaming dish, and steam for 15 minutes.
Huevo con Queso/Cheesy Egg
Ingredients:
3 Eggs
2 pieces cheddar cheese
Condensed milk for sweetener (you can use sugar depending on your preference)
Some butter
Cooking Methods:
Separate the egg yolks from egg whites.
Beat the egg white until it's foamy. Add condensed milk or sugar.
Beat the egg yolks. Add condensed milk or sugar.
Heat a non-stick pan and add some butter or oil.
Pour the egg white mixture and cook over a low fire for 3 minutes.
After 3 minutes, put the 2 slices of cheddar cheese on top. Cook for another few seconds to a minute.
Then pour the egg yolk mixture on top. Cover the pan with lead and cook for 3 more minutes or until the egg yolk is well cooked.
*(You can steam this as well if you don't want to use some oil)
Pastel de Huevo/Egg Pancake
This is a common recipe, if you know how to cook a pancake, then skip this part ๐
I just sprinkled it with some sesame seeds and chia seeds to make it healthier. ๐
All these recipes are the results of my cooking experiment.
So why stick on a common egg recipe if you can cook it with a twist?
