An operating system is the most important software that runs on a computer. An operating system is computer instructions that coordinate all the activities of a computers’ hardware like, memory, storage devices, and printers (Gary B. Shelly). It manages all the process and activities that's happening within a computer system. It allows us to communicate with the computer without learning or knowing how to speak the computer's language. A computer would be useless and lifeless without the operating system that's why it is most important.

The operating system serves as a tool for the user to interact with all the software installed on the operating system. There's so many advantages of an operating system, one of these are it provides interface between the users and hardware. Second, it is very cost effective. Third, provides assistance for managing input and output devices of computer system. Fourth, it helps destroy the external fragmentation. Lastly, numerous operating system are available in open source such as Unix/Linux. Operating System can be run easily on computer system without spending a penny.

Learning how operating system works is very essential most specially on an era where technology is vastly advances. With observation and studying, comes the obvious flaws and perfection into our mind and with that we can forward to application and maybe in the future we will contribute on making our own operating system.
