The Power of Body Language

There are different ways of communicating. One is the use of words and the other is body language. Body language is the act of communicating with another person by using the various parts of the body. You see a young man or woman leaning against a tree or a pillar with hands crossed. This may suggest that the person is worried or lost in deep thoughts. Waving of the hand can mean more than one thing. It can mean 'good-bye' or 'no' as an answer to a question. Nodding off the head upwards and downwards means acceptance but turning of the head to the left and right positions means the opposite.

A child who frowns before his parents may be either angry, disturbed or disrespectful. A child coming home from school with all smiles over the face tells the parents of that child that he or she is in a very happy mood. But if an elderly person smiles, it carries a hidden message. The person may be happy or angry. One who walks with his or her head down is often disturbed. If he or she walks with his or her hands crossed behind his back that person too is much disturbed.

The power of body language is more than words can say. In simple terms, actions speak louder than words.
