I'm sure this receipe will remind you of exactly french fries. An yeah we can say it is because the only difference between this(fried yams) and french fries is the shape of the yam. French fries are cutted into stick shapes and fried yams are cutted into batonnates.
Ingredients:
~ 1 large tuber of yam
~ Water
~ Salt to taste
Steps to cook or fry food:
β’ Peel and cut yam into large or medium sizes like batonnates.
β’ Wash all cutted yams in a bowl of clean water.
β’ After washing, pour yam into another bowl of brine solution (water with salt for taste)
β’ Heat oil in a frying pan under medium heat.
β’ When oil becomes hot, drain some of the yams and fry in batches. This should be according to the amount the frying pan can contain at a time.
Your fried yams are ready to be served. This really goes well with Kelewale (Spicy fried Plantains) and Grilled Tilapia with hot green, red and black chili.
