Is the practice of punctuality useful or not?
Punctuality is to be on time to fulfill our commitments such as: to arrive on time somewhere, to deliver a document, to a meeting, even to a medical appointment. I consider this value to the fullest; to achieve with this, to better perform our work, to be worthy of trust. People who value punctuality consider a delay a demonstration of contempt for the time of another person and even consider it an insult. Punctuality is taught and practiced, if you are unpunctual you lose and waste time.
Of course, we have all experienced something unexpected that has made us late for an appointment: traffic, a mechanical problem with our transportation, a domestic accident or a family matter. However, many people do not understand the importance of punctuality and are continually late everywhere; without understanding the problem this poses not only for those who are waiting for them, but also for themselves, as it is a bad habit that reveals many other defects; it implies little commitment and little formality.
The importance of punctuality in our lives:
- if we are punctual people we are respecting others and assuming that their time is as valuable as ours. that everyone has to be always waiting for you is showing zero interest, respect and consideration for others, it can be frowned upon as a sign of superiority.
- Punctuality is one of the acts of discipline that we will have to achieve, otherwise we will be demonstrating that we do not feel prepared to assume responsibilities. When we acquire a responsibility we must be willing to fulfill our obligations; whether it is attending a job interview at a certain time or simply having a coffee with friends.
- Being punctual will benefit you in your job, it will make it easier for you to gain the respect and trust of your bosses and co-workers, since with that attitude you will demonstrate that you are worthy of having it.
Admit it. Being late is wrong.
The first step to lose the habit of being late is to admit that unpunctuality is not a virtue; on the contrary, it is a defect. Ask yourself why you do it. Is being late for you a matter of anxiety or poor time management? Analyze it.
Discovering what leads you to be unpunctual is essential to be able to change that attitude. For example, if you leave everything to the last minute before leaving, try leaving everything ready the day before. If it is that you go to bed late at night because you get distracted with your cell phone on social networks, the pc or television more than recommended, set yourself a time limit, and you will be able to correct this behavior.
Conclusion:
I particularly consider myself punctual because it means order, discipline, respect, responsibility and positive attitude. Being punctual is a human attitude considered in some societies as the virtue of coordinating chronologically required activities. In the same order of ideas, it defines the way of being of a person, it allows to know other aspects such as commitment, self-discipline and respect towards others.
